So I have a question maybe I'm paranoid. Are your feet suppose to slide in a pair of Indys?

Thanks, DV.  They are relatively new; I've had them for just over a month.  I broke them in via the Mac Method but this was my first real wear.  I've never previously owned a pair of chukkas. Extremely comfortable.

May take a while before they stop doing that. After few wears they won't. For me that period was few months as I wasn't wearing them much. #shell8ptb

Nice shine on your penny loafers Uncle. Do they have a double leather sole?

Nope.
Truebalance last has a generous foot bed though.
I lace mine up tightly and while there's plenty of room to wiggle my toes, my heel doesn't slip.

Happy New Year to all !

I am happy to report that after being away from my shells for over a week and wearing the same boots everyday for that time, I am still alive.

Thanks.

I got mine from Tassels (A HK retailer) in 2011. I was very lucky to get them.

I really had to get use to the barrie and trubalance lasts. Felt a little odd having so much room in the toe box, caused me to second guess my size. Only after numerous measurements did I accept it is just how these lasts are, with that said the heel slip should not be pronounced. I am one that does not believe that issues with fit in store will get dramatically better with time.

after some pretty ropey try on experiences with shell chukkas, which seemed to bear little resemblance to

other barrie fits - i would love to try this half size down and one width up theory.

Have you tried an insole in them?  I incorrectly sized my first pair of Indys (j.crew version) by getting a 10.5 and even with thick socks, they felt loose.  I threw in an insole, and now they fit great.  I've gotten 3 more pairs since (2 shells & 1 og brown) all in size 10, and they fit great without an insole.

Anyone have a favorite method for applying Alden's leather defender? I was figuring apply, let dry then buff? Does anyone brush, maybe? Thanks.

Happy New Year everyone. Although I don't post much these days, I still appreciate your love and passion for Alden!
