Mike, thanks again for heading this up!  Question for you and all who PMed - would it be better if we had two shell color choices of the Indy boot on Plaza?  Ravello and cigar/whiskey?  This would keep each order count low and increase the chances of Alden confirming both orders.  What do you guys think?  I for one would not complain if I got a cigar Indy instead of ravello!

alexandchau, this sounds like good idea and a prudent approach to ordering rare shell cordovan colors.

If it was the "old cigar" I'd be in, haha.
You bring up a good point, Alex. I might be open to whiskey, but I would prefer ravello at the moment.

What's the difference between old cigar and new cigar?

I would support this idea and would be fine with being on a list for a cigar or ravello plaza boot; not sure if I would need a whiskey boot after buying the poor man's whiskey, the church hill indy in veg tanned calf. I'm even open to it being a plaza nst if folks prefer that to the indy idea. This reminds me that I should figure out whether I'm keeping both the ravello and cigar longwings...

"New cigar" is much darker. I don't think it's clear, however, if this was just a recent batch or a persistent shift. Im sure the more senior folks can provide further insight...

We should also make a list for Color 4, since this endeavor is bursting with optimism.

Cigar varies from batch to batch. My cigar captoe boots are older than my cigar chukkas, but my captoe boots were (and remain) darker. The most recent cigar seems to be dark, but that does't mean the next batch won't be light. I've seen the same with color 8.

Yes, yes we should.

May as well include pebble grain #8 too.

Not to rain on the parade, but the larger and more frequent the preorder attempts get, the less likely any of them get done. Most retailers already have standing orders in for various rare colors. To the extent Alden will take new orders, it's best to let individual members work whatever their relationships they have with retailers and to let the retailers figure out how big orders can get, what colors and styles are realistic, etc. Going to Alden DC, SF, Shoe Mart or whoever with five lists of 20 orders in rare colors likely will be counterproductive. Just my $0.02.

+1,000,000. That said, I understand it is hard not to dream.

I agree.  I was just proposing two small orders of exactly the same make-up in two rare, but attainable shell colors.  Similar to what Alden NYC had with the LWB pre-orders.  I'm not going to hold my breath on those orders, though!  Haha
