Anyone know if either of these Alden's are available for purchase anymore or were they just a special, one-time thing?

Alden Ultimate Jumper Shoe

Alden CXL Chukka

Try calling about these, they are great guys at LS and if they still have some stock, you may get lucky.

Saw these on eBay, too big for me...but any size 10 guys out there (9.5 Trubalance) these look a cool boot at a decent price:

Although shipping from the UK is steep.

this happens, on cigar models especially.
basically its the finish flaking of at stress points.
i learned to live with it.
it has happened on every pair of cigar I have ever had and quite a few other colors as well.

I have experienced this on one cigar model and one ravello model. As Closerlook points out, it was/is at stress points. It is frustrating, but the models I speak of would have been unavailable in terms of a replacement pair. My "flaking" was not something that showed up right away, and I had worn the shoes off of carpet. It has stayed contained (fingers crossed). The flaking I have experienced is not something that brushes out. Indeed, I would be careful about brushing the affected area (at least not excessively) - as this will tend to exascerbate the problem.

If the flaking appears in non stress points, or if it becomes in any way widespread, it seems to me the shoes are defective. Indeed, I had a different model in ravello that had flaking in non stress points and it was widespread. I sent them back. The retailer deemed them defective.

As for the original poster, if a replacement pair is available, I would consider an exchange.

What do you think of LWB with a suit?

Classic Americana. I usually wear bals but do sport my bluchers occasionally. The last pair of LWB to fill the rainbow...

ravello wt boot
argyles otc

Great shade of ravello uncle. Been busy getting ready to switch rotations and also moving; hope all with well with you.

whiskey is too light to be a staple. if you have 10+ pairs go for it however most will find it hard to wear. unless of course you are located in a warmer climate and wear lighter colored clothes to match

Who has 10+ pairs? :thumbs-up:

Just counted and currently have 7 pairs (3 #8s, 1 Cigar, 1 Ravello, 1 brown calf, 1 snuff suede). I've sold off another 4-5 pairs and looking to add a few more.

BTW, does anyone have this Shoemart chamois boot or seen it in the wild? Any thoughts?

My personal top 3:

#8 LHS
#8 Tassel Moc
#8 SWB

I might take some flak for putting the SWB over the LWB, but I find it a bit more versatile in my wardrobe.
