Not that it matters but the wool pants are from Costco!
The fabric is made in the USA and they're $40 currently thru 12/06/13.

ggoodwin - Here's my exprience. I just bought my first ( and only) #8 captoe barrie boot a few months ago. I wear 9 in J&M and A&E and 8.5 in Alden Trubalance and Barrie. I bought a 9, only size they had for the shoe close to my size. Its a little big but I get to wear them with thicker socks, which is a bonus in my opinion and it allows me to wear a half sole orthotic for extra comfort ( for me). I'd agree with what El Argentino and kwhitelaw stated that there can be varience among the shell fits from what I have read.

I really hope they work out for you.

All the best

Thank you for the replies.

As an added wrinkle, these boots are back ordered until about two months from now. I would be okay with this wait if I had a good amount of confidence that the boots would fit, but now I'm just wondering if I should cancel the order and look elsewhere rather than wait until February and then have them not even fit and have to return them. I picked these specific ones because I kind of liked the brogueing on the cap toe, but the regular cap toe would probably be fine too. It's weird that the most expensive pair of shoes I'll have ever bought is also the most difficult to get the right size.

Shoemart has cordo cap toe boots on the grant last in my size, but I was wondering if the toe on these might be a little too narrow/pointed for my taste and maybe not as versatile a boot as I was hoping for? It's always hard to tell with the stock photos, I feel like. If it's grant last should I stay with 8?

Alden of San Francisco also said they might be getting some of the straight cap toe cordo boots on the barrie last too in my potential size(s) soon. I get that I might have to deal with trial and error in this process, I'd be a lot better with 2 weeks of it than 2 months, though.

just got cap toe #8 boots from j crew. ive worn them for a literally 5 minutes as they are the first barrie ive owned. extreme whitening where the crease will be. i want to wear them longer indoors to make sure the fit is right but im worried that if i wear them anymore i wont be able to return them if fit is an issue!

i have other #8s and they were never like this.

thoughts?

Here are a couple photos of the Cigar Alden LW next to the Ludlow LW, sorry it took so long to post. Overall size of the Alden shoe is a little bit longer, fit feels very close though. Both are 10D.
