Moc stitching, like on the LHS.

Anybody here have the Kudu boots and care to post pics? I find their color intriguing.

Hi SF members...I just bought a pair Hanover shell cordovan LWB. Curious to see how they stack up to my Alden's. This pair appears pristine and wear. Just the forums feedback on them. I know some of you have discussed this before.

See Ya,
Steve

Thanks Don. I wish the process of pre-orders for Alden shoes could be more transparent across the board at other shops and that everyone is able to purchase the shoes and boots they want and are able to pay for.

+1, how old are those? That's a very brown-ish shade of #8.

I have 2 twenty year old pairs of Hanovers in black shell and color 6ish shell. They are on their second and third soles repectively and a the pair on 3rd soles are still worn weekly. They are Horween shell. An NOS pair in size 10D is one of my grails. I own shell from Alden, C&J, and Allen Edmonds and can say without question that Hanover made the finest shell cordovan shoes ever. Plus I feel the Hanover shell LWB last and brouging pattern were aesthetically the nicest. Congratulations on your score.

Is there any way you can post a picture of the black pair?  I don't often get to see aged black shell -- just wondering if there is a noticeable difference with age.  I've heard they become more transparent over time.  Thanks!!

I would love to see the black shell Hanover for how age has treated them too

Here you go. Please remember that these shoes have not been treated to twenty years of babying and the Mac method. They have been polished regularly with everything from regular wax polish to Cordovan cream. They have also been worn hard and regularly. They have not been one of many shoes in a rotation that gets a once a month wearing. They have been real workhorses along with my other Hanover LWBs in a Cordovan color.
My dad had a pair shell Cordovan LWB's that he wore for well over 30 years. He turned me on to shell and was proud when I bought my first pair. Back in the day when I bought these they were not purchased as a style statement or luxury item. They were nice looking shoes that when you bought them you knew would be a long lived workhorse. Pun intended.

Thank you coinopcollector. Black shell is very underrated and unloved. I think what black doesn't get in patinait makes up inthe depth and richness of the color black. Enjoy your shoes forever.
