^ Even if those opinions just happen to be blasphemous.

I respect the opinion, Coin and Tifosi.

I think though that the comparison of a brand new shell shoe, 1-2 wears out of the box against Mac's Cigar shortwings, or ravello LHS isn't the best comparison though - a lot of that subtle "shading, stain, and character" comes as a result of wearing the shoe and brushing it up for years on end. I think it's the patina you're seeing that deepens the color, makes the shell seem more "transparent" than when they leave the factory freshly done up.

This is true, EA. My whiskey LWB look different then when I first bought them and they have only been worn 15-20 times. I can't wait for these cigars to patina!

Concerning ravelllo, I'll admit I'm more a fan of the last batch. the jcrew LWB I had to send back were the perfect shade. much preferred over the shade of LWB and PTB I recently acquired (not a big enough concern to keep from wearing though of course)

jcrew

LWB and PTB  from DC and NYC

Thinking about picking up the Rough Roy's from context. Do these age well? Sometimes I think rough out boots looking pretty good with age, other times they look pretty beat for the amount of wear.

Any pics of worn in rough outs?

what is the general consensus on natural chromexcel ptb care?

^these in particular

i've tried searching, only found one result and it says this
Quote:
I’ve used Meltonian saddle soap (A very gentle cleaning and moisturizing product.) for the 12 years I’ve worn them and the leather doesn’t look much different than when I bought them. Simply take a damp cloth, put a little saddle soap on it, and wipe the boots. Let them dry, and then buff with a horsehair brush. The brush removes any film and gives the leather a soft luster

just wanted to get anyone else's opinion / experience on it, thanks

Care for NatCXL the same way you would shell. Little to no product, frequent brushing, and always tree them.

Hello All: I recently purchased from Unionmade a pair of Alden Muir Indy Boot in Walnut Calfskin 40541HC. What is the opinion on the proper care for calfskin? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you!!

^ Wear 'em. Sometime next year brush them off and put a little conditioner on them. Done

Those look outstanding!!

I really like the metal toe detail.

I've considered doing that, but it turns out I rarely have much wear on my toes - I'm a strange walker apparently.

They are beautiful.

Alden DC is blowing up with the less common colors.
