Can anyone weigh in on the fit of the NST/Tanker boots on Barrie last, perhaps in comparison to other Barrie lasted boots (wingtip, plain toe, cap toe, etc)?
I'm thinking the Tanker may be a touch too small for me in my usual Barrie size: LWB's fit me perfectly in a D-width...but Barrie Wingtip boots seem to run just a bit more narrow and tight across the instep, so I've wondered if this is true of Barrie-lasted boots in general. Also, without having compared them side by side, the Tanker boot looks like it may even be narrower than either the Barrie wingtip boot, plain toe boot, or cap-toe boot, Should I maybe bump up 1/2 size and stay in a D-width for Tankers if I want them to fit more like my normal size for LWB's?

I've got the Barrie lasted tanker from Context Clothing in a 7.5E as well as some wingtip boots from LeatherSoul also in a 7.5E and on the Berrie last. They seem to fit the same to me. Any difference is negligible.

Does anyone here use standard Allen Edmonds waxed laces for their Aldens? I'm tempted to try them...after relacing my Alden nst several times using the stock laces, the laces are starting to "fray," if you will, immediately adjacent to the plastic crimp.

Yes. :nodding:

On virtually every pair of shoes I own, including Aldens, I replace the laces with AE laces (even new Aldens right out of the box). Indeed, just prior to seeing your post, I ordered 7 pairs of said laces from AE. I have found that AE laces stay tied better, and last longer. Just last night I changed laces on my C&J brown shell Bradfords to AE waxed laces. I also use AE edge dressing exclusively.

Today I am wearing my Alden black shell LWBs - with AE laces. :D

A good day to one and all.

Does Allen Edmonds make their own laces? The AE website advertises Benjos. I purchase them from AE as they ship for free. Otherwise there is a larger selection of colors and lengths on the Benjo website.

Just to clarify, I buy only the dress laces from AE. I have no Benjos.

it's in their online store...

ah, I see it now...I couldn't see the drop-down for Pre-orders when I checked on my phone, but I see it on my computer now. Looks like you can only order standard D widths tho, which pretty much kills any pre-order for me unfortunately. Or I guess fortunately in this case, since I really don't have any money to spend on any more shoes right now.

Yeah, I was a bit put out by that too. I really like the Black Alpine Grain longwings but cannot get them in an "E" width. I can squeeze into the "D" though so will probably go ahead and order them regardless. I am a sucker for the crepe sole.
