Thinking about replacing the crepe sole of my cigar PTBs on crepe from Winn Perry with a dainite sole. Thoughts?

Any other type of sole would be an improvement over crepe, IMO. I would either go for double leather or dainite. Which seasons would you wear them most? If its in the wet, cold months I would go Dainite as I can't bear the sight of damp leather soles

Edit- just read your later posts. I would go with Dainite

My order would be:
1. double leather JR
2. double leather flex
3. dainite (standard color)
Obviously if you are after something other than leather, the dainite is a great option.
When you say "double leather flex", does that mean the waterlock soles?

Question on Alden leather soles --- are the leather soles (single or double) that come from the Alden factory that are NOT the waterlock type, from JR? They obviously don't have the "JR" logo on them.

A Good Day for Indy #8s....on the steps in SF:

Fresh off of a much needed polishing and Mac method treatment but if you look closely you can still see the discoloration caused by inadvertently leaving them outside over night when a drenching fog rolled in...thought it might fade over time and despite a vigorous brushing and polishing that ameliorated but did not alleviate the blemishes...they are still there...no worries, these are my beater boots and they will roll with whatever life throws at them...

PS: Thumbs up for the new laces from the guys at Alden SF.

Alden's website says that they make their own soles from oak tanned leather bends in their factory for quality control.

^ Bakes - who makes the cigar boot in your avatar? I think you said before but I can't remember...
They were an MTO done for THOR who posted the cigar indys on the previous page. We are trying to get Alden DC to do a run of them for us. There is a thread about it if you are interested, go check it out, and PM the specified member with your info. It isn't a sure thing but we have our fingers crossed.

The thread is called "Alden MTO Boot via Alden DC" or something.

I'm in on that too and it'll be awesome if that comes through as it's an incredible looking makeup we've got.

Ha...thats funny...I never knew my boots were famous :)

I think I may have been one of the last MTOs Alden did before their moratorium...and it only took 6 months believe it or not.

They are great- really love the cigar and the antique edge trim...

PS: the Indy's on the previous page are #8 not cigar...
