Swung by Moulded Shoe, in midtown, and picked up Natty CXL Indies on the modified last, in my size. The salesman was pleasantly surprised that they still had them (9.5E) left, because they were out of just about all other Natty CXL sizes. I know the modified last doesn't get the most love, but I have a very wide foot, and a very narrow heel, and trying both Trubalance and Modified on, it is clear in an instant that it's either modified or nothing. Too bad there is about a $100 premium on the last there ($585+tax vs $490 for Trubalance). But that's what you get for a boot that's not sold anywhere else. They fit like a dream, and look prefect for me.

^^^ Congrats on finding the right boot for you.  Post some pics when you can.  Enjoy often and in great health.

I have to agree with everyone here, Uncle.  Your black shell medallion cap toe boots are as fine a black boot as I've seen.  You wear them quite well my friend...

PSA:

70% off at Jos A Banks right now. I usually prefer split toe shoe trees but cannot beat $7.50 a pair and free shipping on orders over $50

How do you guys get rid of the water splash stain that is visible under light? I think i noticed it appearing when I first applied renovateur. I supposed it will disappear over time.

if it has dried naturally already which i assume it has. for me i just usually do a good vigorous brushing. i find my oldest pair of cordo's do the water spots consistently with just light moisture touching them. i have to brush them after drying to clear them up.

horsehair brush obviously.

I took advantage and got several pairs. They're pretty good quality and smell fantastic!

It's from particle deposits after the water evaporated... just brush vigorously.

Thanks fellas, just some elbow grease and they`re almost non-existent. Also, anyone else use a deer bone to smooth out the edges of the leather sole? The bottom most heel layer that tends to protrude out with wear, I managed to flatten by boning then I just covered with black cream again.

A very little work indeed unless you wiped them down before the pic. Lol. That shell looks so good in the sunshine. Beautiful boots sir. Now back to work!

Just got an email from J Crew saying the shoes I ordered during the most recent coupon snafu are backordered until January. I could care less as long as I'm not charged until then. I wonder if J Crew puts heat on Alden to get a clue when it comes to output levels and delivery dates?
