I'll try to take some tonight, but not sure the pics will show up the texture, etc.  We'll see...

I haven't worked retail since my college days. Back then, I could purchase picture frames at a 80% discount. I wonder what kind of discount jcrew or rl employees can get on alden and c&j shell?

Wonderful shine, as with every pair you post, on your king straight tips Uncle. I consider Marcoliani cashmere argyles one of life's little extras.

I am going to return them, but just wondering what happened...  Just the latest batch of leather that Alden got, which happened not to be up to snuff?  Has anyone else gotten a pair lately that seemed like this?

The 405 leather is different, depending on where you get them... For instance the Classic Brown Calf you have sounds like the standard offering, but on the Alden x JCrew 405, they use Brown Chromexcel, similar to the standard 403.

Confusing, I know.

I had to look it up at one point.

They look good. How long have you had them for?

That's more J Crew's error than anything else. They offer a version of the 403, they just incorrectly call it a version of the 405. The same with their mislabeling of calfskin longwings as "chromexcel." I have 405s on commando soles, the leather looks good, not fake at all - that's why I am curious to see the photos of the bad pair

How? how do you do it KDub?

A size 10 D Barrie fits me perfectly. I found a boot that I want and the problem is it is only available in a 9 1/2 E or a 10 1/2 D. I do not want to go with the shorter boot. If I get the 10 1/2 D and put a pair of Dr. Scholl's inserts in them do you think that might help with the fit or do you think that a 10.5 D has that much more extra room that they would just be unwearable?

From what I've read, a 9 1/2 E would work for some guys. I'm curious about that myself, but since my location is making a return infeasible, I'm not too willing to gamble.
