I really want the 1493 (Snuff suede chukka) but I don't know I'll fit in Leydon. Is there anywhere one can order it in 11EE? I have the unlined PTB on Barrie and 11E is a good fit. I also have a Cigar LWB and in 11E it's a tiny bit tight, or maybe they just have to break in some more.

Sorry for the non-Alden related question here, but I trust my cohort most when it comes to shell cordovan.  Does anyone here have any experience with Brunello Cucinelli shell cordovan shoes?  Aside from the plantation crepe soles, they look and feel really nice, but are priced incredibly high.  At what price would they be reasonable.  I saw some at an outlet store on sale and was curious.

Do you know who makes them? I'm guessing it's outsourced.

Gentlemen, congratulations on the purchases. I wonder if anything in 9D Barrie was sold...

tifosi, +1 for Leffe Brune. Enjoyed it much when I was in Gent this summer

Tifosi - always interested in the perspective of an experienced alden owner so excuse what will be a basic question. Does D. Shell indicate only color 8 or would in also include cigar and black shell? Also, even with the wide variance in color 8 dyes, can I assume that you only have 1 brush for all color 8 shoes?

The pair I saw looked good (ptb) but at nearly 2k I didn't look too long. I would consider a pair at $800. However at their current price point I would rather EG, St.C, or two pair of Aldens.

Does anyone have any real life shots of an Alden City-Moc? I've been long thinking about a good casual shoe and was almost going to pull the trigger on a pair of Epaulet Carmina shortwings in Chromexcel but missed out. I've since stumbled upon the Alden City-Moc at Leffot, coincidentally in natural Chromexcel, and am thinking it might be the one. But, I can't seem to find any real life pics of city-moc model in general, let alone the Leffot cxl specifically.

If you've got some real-world city-moc model pics, I'd love to see them!

(edit: in case you thought it a weird question for late October, I should note that I'm in central Florida where styles like this are virtually year round)

Shawnc- I use that brush for #8 and black shell. I do not have any polish on any of my shells yet, but once I do I have dedicated brushes for polish for each color waiting. I have 3 non-polish brushes. Dark, light for my whiskey and a brown for my dark browns.

I did snap a pic of the Ravello at TSM just because it was sooo stunning with the antiqued / storm welt...almost looks like it's smiling. Take me home

What do you guys think of the Indy boot on a modified last? To me, they're just not the same. In my opinion, the wider toebox of the Tru-Balance last gives it the appeal. I'd like to hear some opinions.

What do you guys think of longwing bluchers on a modified last versus the Barrie last?

The virtue of the modified last is the more natural fit, to my understanding, for most foot shapes. Here's a link, which many of you may have clicked, on a comparison: http://mouldedshoe.tumblr.com/post/39687208653/barrie-last-on-the-left-modified-on-the-right-i

Thanks in advance.

i would call either alden sf or alden dc to inquire. however, i think i read somewhere that they don't produce anything on the leydon above an E

Yes. I can't recall if I ever saw it. It's strange that they make it in both C, D and E when most people has to go with an E. Who can fit in a C on Leydon?!

Frans Boone has a make up on Barre, but it's with double waterlock sole, and I really prefer the flex welt for that kind of shoe.

Olaf, I wear 9.5E in Barrie shoes/boots and a 10E in the Leydon snuff. It works fine (though still snugger than other 10Es I own in Tremont, Hampton, Aberdeen and Grant).

I have looked for EE, but as mentioned before, they don't stock it - you can do a special order with Alden NY for an EE, though.
