I covet these more than any other Alden model.  I had a very small window of opportunity about 2 years ago and blew it!

You wear your SWB quite well, Uncle! Lovely cashmere otc as well...

The above are the newer version of the tobacco waxed LWB from J Crew.  They look delightful! For comparison purposes, below is my three year old version which has not changed in color at all.  The newer version is a little darker and more brown, as opposed to the more orange-looking color of the old pair.

Some how these pics look pretty similar, but to the naked eye (in person) there is a significant difference.

BTW, there is a nice, lightly used pair of the 974 on ebay I am considering for $350.  There seems to be some unsightly creasing on the ones up for auction.  I am assuming it was from an improper fit.  If the fit is proper for me, might I be able to work the creases out with a nice break-in period?  Or are these creases there for the duration?  Thoughts anyone??

I know, I should jump on the NST boots, but please humor me.  Thanks in advance...

Thank you.  I think I agree; I will give it a try.

No wonder I can't ever acquire any of the numerous grails posted on this thread... we wear the same size!   ...ugh!

I think they're in very good condition, I wouldn't be concerned with creasing.
If you are a Barrie size 10, then tremont size 10 will be too tight. I'm a Barrie size 10 and wear tremont 10.5 tts.

I'm actually a 9.5d-10D 'tweener in Barrie.  10D in Tremont and Plaza are perfect for me.  10D in aberdeen is a little too snug and 10.5D is too big (I'm probably 10E).  Thanks DV.  I'll keep these in mind, but I have my sights set on a different ebay target.

I believe J Gilbert currently has a pre-order for a tan suede version on single leather sole. Contact Yenni and see if they still have any openings

Stopped at shoemart this morning - just got in a bunch of whiskey and cigar seconds (15 pairs).

They had 3 in my size 10.5d.

$450

Call or stop by before the email goes out Tuesday

Where could TSM possibly be getting new stock of 2nds for Whiskey and Cigar? I don't think any retailers have been rolling out new Whiskey or Cigar models recently. Unless this is from a brand new batch, and some stores will have some new runs coming soon.

Maybe it's because it's Saturday or because I didn't speak with Joe, but I just gave TSM a shout and they said I'd have to wait for the seconds email to go out. Not what I wanted to hear, but at least she was pleasant about it.
