Unfortunately, this is one of the more narrow toe boxes I have seen on a Barrie (unlined 9.5D). They are more than likely going back, so if interested keep an eye on the NS site.

Thanks, Shouldaville. Now I'm excited. I just ordered the Church Hill Indys from NeedSupply. Package should arrive tomorrow smile.gif

Hope the shoes work out!

Alden Carmel used to have them on the Leydon last.  I prefer my barrie lasted version though.

The Ralph lauren store in Tysons Galleria has some C&J models. Also, the Brooks Brothers on CT ave usually has Alden models that you can actually see and touch.

If you make it up to Baltimore (about an hour from DC, or 45 minutes by train), you should visit Samuel Parker Clothiers.  They usually carry the entire RL cordovan line (wingtips, penny, PTB, and I think Lindricks) in addition to a nice collection of Aldens.

Shiny & RTP: thanks for the advice. Unfortunately this will be a very brief trip and I don't see myself making it to either the suburbs or Baltimore.

I think you'll like that one. It seems to fit a little more snug than my CXL version, which is fine for me on Trubalance.

Maybe you could put a slight coat of wax where the denim is hitting the suede?

I was lucky enough to get these too - Leffot perforated captoe boots in black cordovan - and since Fall is beginning, am wearing them for the first time today.  I too really like the boot - something about the way it is put together is very nice - I think the all eyelets adds to the quality and look as does the double leather sole.  I did not get the color 8 version because I simply could not justify it when I have a color 8 captoe boot.  I really wish, however, that I could find a way.

The black is an outstanding make-up and yours look great.

Alden of Carmel has limited sizes remaining in color 8 shortwings with commando soles on the leydon last.  Leydon is not as round-toed as aberdeen, but it is far slimmer than Barrie.

tarrago (sp?) is an incredibly effective product that you spray on suede to make it amazingly water repellent.  I do not know if it will help with dye rubbing off on suede, but I would certainly ask of the manufacturer.  I am sorry I do not have the experience to advise about how to remove such stains.

About time I put up a picture of my own Aldens.  Color #4 chukkas.  Nothing better than color#4 in the sunshine.
