Had to compromise though, since Epaulet doesn't do E widths, so I went up a half-size in D and we'll see how they work out. So far, so good, with thin socks.

Regarding Alden DC, Kathy hasn't given up on the e-mail list. Not sure what she needs to do to convince corporate that it's a good thing, but it's not totally dead. I figure if she can reach out to more people she will be more willing to try make-ups that may otherwise not do well locally. I'm in there pretty regularly and it's always interesting to see what regular non-fanatics come in to look at.

Looking good, AAF! Just happened to be wearing LS's American Longwing today.

+1. doesn't look like Aberdeen, but we could certainly be wrong.  Fine looking pair of bluchers.  Not sure why Kathy would think short wing bluchers wouldn't do well??

Nolan Ryan might be the baddest Texan ever.  I can still remember when he beat the crap out of a much younger Robin Ventura about 20 years ago...

Just got my shipping confirmation today (color 8 chukkas).  Should arrive in a few days.

REguy: Good to know. Does this pair fit similarly to your other shoes? In my experience, the Aberdeen sometimes gets a little wonky.

In Aberdeen boots I take 9.5D. In Aberdeen laced shoes I take 9.5D (usually) and 9D (sometimes). The shoes in question are 9.5D, and they fit me like my other Aberdeens in 9.5D. The Aberdeen fits my foot well, and I have numerous models - mostly shell - on it.

For frame of reference, I take Barrie in 9D.

My sense is that short wings don't do that well locally (DC area), and because she has no way of actively reaching out to the masses about what make-ups might be available, she could be stuck with a bunch of shoes. But she's still always asking me for new ideas....

After seeing your photos of the cigar captoes, I'm extra motivated to put in some work on mine this weekend...

My LWB's just arrived and I confirmed with jcrew that they retroactively applied the coupon discount. Unfortunately they did arrive with the darker welt but the jcrew rep gave me a $50 gift certificate to keep even if I return the shoes. Really wanted the lighter welt but the price is hard to turn down.
