I have a bottle of leather defender - I have only used them on one shoe (whiskey Indy). After several wears my whiskey Indys look great. It's not an apples to apples comparison (I haven't subjected them to much abuse or anything) but this product seems like it could be worth it

I only apply it during rainy season. Seems not that useful when it's not raining.

The only thing that looks different about these is they have a double oiled waterlock sole, whereas I think both Epaulet and Unionmade had a standard double leather sole. Still, it seems weird that 3 different stores have basically the same shoe as an "exclusive" model.

I gess at some point there are only so many ways you can make a wingtip #8 boot.

I do not recommend using renovateur on shell. It contains turpentine which opens the shell's pores. If one religiously follows the Mac method then the shoes shouldn't need any additional help shining.

Huh? Renovateur is the finest creme out there. After use on shell, I've never noticed "pore opening"; it'd be present in more oil release/buildup on the surface. Using Reno certainly does wonders for those areas and for shine.

Reverse v. Flat welt makes a world of difference, aesthetically. The Hallock and Brixton are, though, identical.

Stopped by Alden SF yesterday - for those of you that are interested they have Indys, Tassels and Belts all in Cigar as well as unlined PTBs in Color 8 and Black Shell.

Wearing my Ravello wingtip boots today. Decided to straight bar lace them through the eyelets because I've always felt they were tight across the instep... I guess I'm not really a 10.5D in Barrie boots anyway. It turns out to be a bit of a revelation. The bar lacing gives just that little bit of extra room that makes them pretty comfortable now. Gave this a try based on re-lacing a pair of balmorals I have from straight European (how they came), to straight bar. These too were a little tight, and the different lacing pattern helped a lot. I though, let's try it on the boots, even though they aren't bals, obviously.

Yes, I used some of that on my SW's and about a week later wore them in some rainy and wet conditions. Had no problems with staining or bumps on the shell like I've heard about from others' experiences with cordovan in the rain.

This is true...I didn't notice this at first but I took a closer look again - I really like the reverse welt on the LS model.

I was trying to order a 9.5E size, LS thought I wanted a 9.5D. I am sending back the 9.5D and getting a 10D.
