Hey, anyone have pics of snuff suede boots with some real wear?  Curious what the color and patina is after months or years of use...

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Seems to be an interesting stockist. According to the site they have several sizes (and widths) of cigar chukka available too.

You bring up an interesting point, Tifosi...how much would you pay? What if we got a group together who was willing to pay a premium...and took it directly to Alden.

I would bet we could get 100 orders for a #4 makeup out of this thread. Let's say many might pay from 800-900. That would be an order for 80-90 thousand dollars! I would bet that order would rival many smaller Alden retailers orders per year and would make Alden take us seriously. Perhaps we could get someone like Mac to be the liason (if he isn't already!). I'm thinking something like a Gustin jeans model. We could probably even set it up as a Kickstarter if we got Alden's blessing. I have to believe that if they had a single order for 100 pairs of boots, they might at least take notice.

I was in 5 shops.
In 2 they had cordovan boots, but unfortunately the 12 was to short and in the 13, I slipped slightly from front to back.
A 12.5 is nowhere to be found.
One was the Naval Boot on the Barrie Last and than i tried a Indy Boot but there was the same Problems.

My hope was to find the right size for Alden ( i have a UK 12 in Edward Green und Crockett&Jones) AND a Cordovan Boot but no Boot and i dont really know my size.

I found a Tanker Cordovan in 12.5 online but there is no Lastg info. So i dont know if i need the 12.5 or the 13 because it maybe is a true size Last.

So tomorow the search will be continue.

Sorry for my bad english

All the Best

While I understand the idea of paying a premium for #4, I'd think offering to pay shell boot market price directly to the manufacturer would be just as convincing in the assumed quantities.

#4, I would probably be willing to pay in excess of 1k TBH.

I think this is the general sentiment on this thread. Of course, we could offer retail price, but I think offering a premium (even small) would catch their attention.

It is a possibility, although slim. Like bespokenpa said...I'd be in for $1,000 easy. But I'd rather pay market price as brp suggested.
My only point was that offering market price -- which may have been poorly worded as I intended to say regular retail price -- directly to the manufacturer would already represent a significant premium for the manufacturer.

While I don't want to seem to be pooh-poohing this idea or be viewed as a complete naysayer -- because i would sign on for it in a heartbeat, even for over RRP -- I do have one significant concern. Considering the significant restrictions that appear to extend from Alden to its retailers, I would be surprised if there are not other restrictions which work in favor of the retailers. For example, I would think that, either by contract or by simple business dealings, Alden would be hesitant to bypass its dealers in this way even for a significant premium.
Alden has more or less ignored ravello / cigar / color 4 orders from established retailers, there is basically zero chance they will look at an order from a group of buyers directly.

At this stage of the game, color 8 w / antique sole is the new ravello/color 4 in terms of special makeups
post #61439 of 79551
TSM advised me color 4 orders will not be filled as Alden will no longer produce #4 shoes/boots.
