I have a vintage pair of boots in this style - always been interested in the Alden version.
Congratulations!cheers.gif

I went TTS and the fit is terrific.

I wear my boots one half size larger than my shoes because I slip a half-sole orthotic into all boots . This also gives me plenty of toe room that I like.

e.g I wear 7.5D in Barrie LWB but 8D in Barrie LW shell boot, 8D in Plaza shoe and 8.5D in Plaza shell boot, etc.

So, without the orthotic this Aberdeen lasted boot would have been OK in size 8D. I am 8C on the Braddock, so yes this boot can be worn TTS as long as without orthotic..

Funny you mention vintage because I had a pair like this about 40 years ago as a teenager. I think they were from a saddlery in NYC.

Question about Woodlore Shoetree

Does anyone use Woodlore shoetree in Alden shoes/boots?

I just got the woodlore shoe tree. I understand that the woodlores and Alden shoetree are made by different manufacturers.

However, I found that the woodlore has a larger volume at the front part of the tree, even woodlore and alden are both in small size. (for 6.5 to 7.5D)

The woodlore's could be put inside Alden's shoes, but not boots.

Would there be any adverse effect on the shoes, especially on the vamp?

Mist captor boots are on the grant last. That boot offered by tassels is on the Barrie last. The perforated captor boots Leffot offers - the Naval boots are on the Barrie last and are likethe Tassels boots except the captor on the Tassels boots has no perforations.

I use woodlore shoe trees in my Alden shoes and boots as well as Alden shoe trees. Both work just fine. I find what does make a (negative) difference is using trees that are too long (using medium size when the size of shoe calls for small trees, for example) and using the shoe trees that have only a partial heel. These trees affect how the shoe shapes. But I find the. full heel Alden and Woodlore trees in the correct size do their job. I will confess I am less persnickety than many here, so you may get more finely tuneful thoughts about the matter.
