This needs to go in the official quote bank. No matter how old you are Sir, you are wise beyond your years.

At a minimum it seems that extreme heat could dry out leather faster than cooler, steadier temps. You have a tidy sum invested in footwear, so I'd suggest proceeding accordingly.

It's probably about 5-10 degrees warmer than room temperature in the summer and about the same difference but cooler in the winter.

Are those blue suede SWB on Barrie?

Their website can be misleading I feel, and there are usually a few sale Aldens in store they just say there aren't if you email / call and they don't know who you are

I'd go with the SWB also.

Thanks for all of the feedback gents.  I like both but favor the SWB.  Aldenwear, your points are all valid and insightful, but not sure I'm crazy about the light 360 storm welt on the PTB.  Take care...

Yep, Barrie.

They had a table full of Lobbs and EG 50% if you want suede. Pretty limited sizes. Mostly elfin.

A few people remarked at how dark these cigar captoes looked - Here is a photo out in low sunlight. These are among my most complimented shoes (probably top 2 or 3)

Thanks, gents. I'll inquire about the boots. Sadly, elfin sizes won't work.

Yes, grant last from Alden DC. I believe all of Alden DC's grant lasted captoes have commando soles (they have black, color 8 and cigar).

Color 8 Ranger Moccs. Lace up Van last fits quite well.

Like all new shells, I hate to put the first crease in these, but they are shoes after all.

Thank you for posting these pictures. You encouraged me to snag these off the shoemart seconds list. That makes 5 pairs of Alden shell for me in the last two months - time to subscribe to the no purchases thread.

Nice ranger mocs. Frans Boone has a crepe soled version I am interested in but I don't want to pay ~$800 for it

Thanks Alcibiades. I have a chamois Ranger with crepe sole and it's a nice combo. But the color 8 version is so nice. Someone mentioned a while back that they would like to see an unlined shell Ranger - honestly that would be the only thing (for me) that could improve this shoe. It also feels a bit narrower than my non-shell Ranger. I've noticed a few Ranger pics online where it sometimes appears quite wide.

That DC makeup is a fantastic boot.  I've had my name on a list for those for a while and would love a pair as nice and versatile as that.
