Just a quick question about the Barrie last. I have a pair of PTBs on Barrie. When I tried on a pair of LWB on the barrie in the same size, they felt somewhat different (more elongated and straight, less curvy). They also appeared that way upon visual inspection, although that might be an optical illusion because of the wing. Is it true that the barrie for longwings is actually different than the one used for the plain toes?

I think it's about the same.  LWBs may feel a little wider, but not much.

Interesting. The ones I saw in the store looked significantly sleeker, but they were supposedly C/E in width, which I presume is E width.

This has been my experience, and since I was an in-between to begin with i did go with a different size

I agree. I got lucky and scored a pair of LWB about 8 months ago. Have a feeling that will be the end of my luck.

All: some advice, please.  While I'd love a Ravello LWB, I'm wondering if pursuing one would be a bit redundant as I've got the tobacco "waxed" LWB from J. Crew.  Now I'm not trying to spout some heresy here, and I'd certainly prefer a Ravello LWB to the J. Crew model, but I'm just wondering about the practical point that, if I had both, one wouldn't get worn much based on their similarities.  Is this off base?

That is not too far off base as far as I'm concerned. If I had a similar make up with one in shell and one in calf...the calf version would be collecting dust. I would sell the calf version once I had the Ravello in hand. It may be a while so I'd hold on the J Crew while you search.
