Eyelets are not difficult to install if you want to go DIY or ask your local repairman to handle it.

It means that the current lasts they have are almost no longer functional for the purpose of making shoes. Wouldn't make since for Alden to burn out the remaining lasts to make try on shoes. They could order more lasts but not sure if they would see that feasible. Alden did discontinue a last that United Arrows has been using for years in Japan for a reason similar to this and United Arrows is a huge stocklist

One, I'm fortunate enough to have access to a really good cobbler here in Pgh. This guy does amazing work. Also, my chukkas were my first new purchase and I went down a 1/2 size in the barrie last. In hindsight, I should have went down a complete size as they are still a little roomy. The third set of eyelets may mitigate this condition a little. Either way, this is really good information. Thanks again for the tip.

I thought the leydon fit TTS and the Barrie 1/2 down?

typically, yes. atleast in my experience.

but from the post your quoted, it sounds like the chukkas were barrie lasted (maybe commando sole)

I have a sizing question. If I have a pair of 11.5 carmina Simpson last, would an 11.5 in the unlined chukkas also work?
Thanks for any help.

If you're an 11.5 in UK sizing, I'd assume you'd need about a 12.5US in Leydon, no?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. 10.5 UK carmina, but I just did the "add 1 size for British sizing."

if the unlined chukka is leydon last, then most go TTS

is the unlined chukka on the leydon last? if so youre most likely a us12. typically uk11.5 simpson is equivalent to a us12 on the alden leydon (us12.5 if you have a narrow foot)

It is. My TTS is usually 12US, but I've found that isn't always the case with dress shoes. The Barrie last shoes at that size are giant, both width and length, and the same goes for carmina shoes in 12US.
I found a really good deal on the unlined leydon chukkas, but they're only in 11.5US.

I would think being suede and not shell I might get lucky and won't have to wait too long. Maybe they could add my size to an order that's already confirmed for production.

I too need narrow widths and have requests in various retailers.  Not all retailers accommodate these requests (e.g. Epaulet won't order for  you.).  Alden NYC is very helpful.  They have helped source a plaza captoe in C width for me.  I think so long as the shoe is part of their normal line-up, they would line you up.  Also, they didn't require a deposit, at least for the shoe I requested.  The said that they don't have an issue ordering Cs.  But if it were a B, they may require a deposit since it's harder to sell.  FYI.

I'm usually TTS 12US, but with carmina I actually had to size down to a 10.5 UK. I bought a pair of 11 UK, but they fit only slightly better than 12 US Barrie from Alden.

I take a 12 TTS/11.5 barrie, and tried (unsuccessfully) to squeeze into an 11.5 leydon chukka.. couldnt pull it off so I offloaded them on here.
