Unipair has #8 Tanker Barrie double leather soles FYI

It sounds like you know you prefer the Alden NYC version of the color 8 cordovan Indy.  You should get what you want.  2 minutes after you receive the boot, you will not even remember the wait, and you will have what you want.  If you get what you don't want, you will always know that.

You are right that it would be "prudent" to get the black cordovan Indy -- again, whichever version you want . . . . . . IN ADDITION to the color 8 version, not instead of. You know that.  Don't make anyone here state the obvious.

True

Beatleguese, Alden NYC doesn't stock C widths in the suede longwings, but you can preorder

Also, they have a pretty good looking navy chromexcel Indy boot in stock. It's on a black cork sole.

Yeah that's what I was thinking...if it's on the Barrie I would probably go for a B width. Although who knows how long of a wait that would be. I would think being suede and not shell I might get lucky and won't have to wait too long. Maybe they could add my size to an order that's already confirmed for production.

First wear cordovan #8 PTB, impressed of how versatile this shoe can be.

Congratulations Sir. Wear your PTBs in good health!

I enjoyed all the banter above regarding "C" widths & "B" widths. I think it's always good to contact retailers about special sizing (meaning something other than a D or E) and let them know that's what you want. Aldens are great shoes, and proper sizing should be at or near the top of the list when we're making an Alden acquisition.

Finally got my hands on the color 8 cap toe from LS I ordered 19 months ago :P

About to send it out to BNelson for a Vibram Richard half sole on it so I can wear it all year long

Wow. Based on the exchange rate I see for the Korean Won, these are $1,162.

Yeah, that's a good question about dealing directly with Alden.  Oh, well.  My size varies in the Barrie last.  With my two Barrie shell boots I wear a 12, but the 12 in the snuff LWB was slightly big, but not unwearable.  Probably from not having the ankle support that a boot has.  I'd probably try an 11 1/2 next time.  My foot is 11 1/2 D on the Brannock, but 13 C by arch length.  My 12 D Barrie boots fit really nicely, I think.  I wouldn't change those.

I've learned to become more patient with buying shoes and clothes since joining SF, so I'm sure another LWB will present itself.

EDIT:  Oh, dear.  I just checked the J Crew site and they have restocked a couple of sizes...including my 12.  Crap!

A great looking shoe sir. The #8 PTB was my first shell cordovan and I still wear them all the time. Congratulations and wear yours in the best of health.

PM Unipair Guy and get the price. In my experience, his price quotes always come in lower than the exchange rate.

I have bought two pairs of EGs from Unipair Guy and he has been very decent to work with.
