I tend to agree with Burton.  I understand the "Wax For Protection" argument, but I reject it, since shell is said to contain a good amount of natural wax to begin with.  Your shoes though, do with them as you please.  My dad polishes the heck out of his unlined LHS, and I let him do it since they are his shoes and not mine.  Mine have never been polished, and I think that they look way better.

I've read that a few times already but that was 7 months ago. I was planning on it so I guess I need to refresh my memory.

You can find the Mac Method all over this thread, but I am sure if you contacted him directly he would be willing to help. He is a gentlemen and takes a kindly interest newbs.

Oh,

I just meant that I thought it called out for an initial ultra thin layer of polish, but I now see that was from Alden's site. Once I re-read it I'm sure I'll be fine.

Dugan do the Mac Method ignore the Alden site. I only use polish sparingly--and then only on scuffs. Shell, with its natural oils, really needs no polish.

Leather Soul Tanker Boots ready to take me out to a friend's farm to pick some sweet corn.  I do live in Iowa, after all.  I love these boots and they have served me well so far.  The commando sole is perfect for snowy and muddy situations.

I've got a pair as well. Quite possibly my best fitting pair of Aldens. Too bad the two-tones always entice me to buy but then I never wind up wearing them.

I hear you about the two-tones.
I don't regret buying them but I just don't wear them that often.

Pretty nice corn picking boots you got there McPryon. I know how you feel, I live in Minnesota. How's about a pic after you've walked a couple of rows. Thanks.

Actually, it wasn't so bad out in the field.  A little damp, but no terrible mud like I was expecting.

Thanks, gents.  Pictures definitely do this pair justice.  I'm so glad I happened upon them.  I was unsure about the commando sole at first, but it's growing on me...especially when I'm not slipping and sliding in the winter.
