However, some of Vass's Alt Wien models are built on a sleeker last...  http://www.styleforum.net/t/130044/the-ultimate-vass-porn-thread/930#post_3725401

It may be that Alt Wien just means a Hungarian Medallion CTB ( I really don't know.)

I've tried to do some internet digging on this but not much is out there to clearly define, so I may be inaccurate with this.  Maybe someone like MoneyWellSpent or others could shed some light.
Thanks RTP, I appreciate the info.

Are you referring to the JCrew Alpine? If so, that should just be a black pebble grain, although some pictures make it look a bit grayish.

How do you all feel about the suede/pebblegrain for JCrew? Quite different, but I would like to see one in person.

The discussion on Alt Wien inspired me to pull these out. Don't wear them often, but absolutely my favorite pair of shoes.

^ if those are your favorite pair of shoes, why don't you wear them often? I wear my favorite pairs as much as I can! They look great BTW, wish I could find them in a narrow width

I preordered the Leffot version with the antique sole edge. What a beauty.

Hey wild, did you go with the 8D since they are Barrie?

Are we looking at the same preorder? When I look at the Context preorder page on my phone I see multiples of all sizes available?!

HERE

Yup. 8D for me. In the Barrie 8D works for me, at least for the two 8D boots I currently own.

Context did just open up a second pre-order. Maybe the OP was speaking of the first pre-order which as of even last week was pretty slim pickins.
