I'm looking at the navy longwings with brick soul. They look pretty fun and durable.

I am almost a perfect 9.5US (Thin feet), Barrie last shoe with storm welt I size down a full size to compensate the width and length.

Picked these calf Aldens recently.  What I like:  chocolate color, barrie last/fit great, could be waterlock sole (?), super soft leather, would be a good rainy day shoe (I’m afraid to wear shell when there’s a threat of rain).

Negs:  metal eyelets more of a casual shoe (not for suits?), have 2 other brown/blucher captoes (1 is a 2160 shell), Barrie last may look a little clunky.
What do all you think?

Quick question, I sent a pair of Alden cordovan loafers in last wednesday using the recrafting service, when should I expect to hear back from Alden regarding the shoes?

They'll send you a postcard when they process your shoes. Restoration takes about 10 weeks.

I sent a pair of LHS in and rec'd a postcard dated 6/12 saying ten weeks because of their annual 2 week vacation in July. I'm hoping of the 21st.

Excellent, thank you. I'm excited to see what kind of work they can do on them

For some reasons the metal eyelets on these remind me of the "dress" shoes my dad had to wear when he was a manager at an automobile equipment manufacturer and would need shoes that would hold up well for walking the production floor of 100,000 sqft industrial building but still be serviceable if he needed to go into a meeting with the executives or out to lunch with the reps from Ford or GM...

The shoes look comfortable enough but extra clunky for some reason. However, if the deal was good enough the could definitely be worthwhile for keeping as a foul weather dress shoe.
