A new member of the family arrived yesterday. Nothing fancy, nothing exotic. About as basic as they come, but a model I had overlooked in search of her exotic cousins.

Alden's LHS, in color King

I like your new penny's sazon. Wear them in the best of health my friend.

Sazon,

my 986's are one of my most worn pairs. They go with everything.

I have been searching for a pair with antique edge but have not had any luck. I was thrilled when Leffot said they had received confirmation and were moving forward, but now due to the scarcity of shell I guess they have decided to allocate towards something else.

Aaaah...what have I done? I watched the "Love" video before lunch. Someone needs to send the authorities to search that dude's basement or crawl space ASAP!

Trying to decide between a Natural Cxl PTB with double waterlocks or Snuff Suede LWB with single flex sole, gave up on the Kudu because of the Crepe sole.

Any thoughts?.. Mainly for jeans and chinos , comfort is a must.

Thanks.

Total personal preference but if I had to choose one, it would be both

Fellas, I just made the plunge! I was lucky enough to grab a pair of PTBs in #8 @ The Shoe Mart. They're 2nds so they were a great value. They were kind enough to send them to me as well. I took a pic because I needed something to at least take home with me :-)

Very different shoes.  If you live in a climate with rain or a Winter, you will get more use out of the CXL shoes than the suede because the suede shoes will be essentially unavailable to you during that weather.  If that matters, then that alone points towards the PTB.

The difference between a plain toe and the long wing and which color goes better with jeans and chinos -- both go with jeans and chinos -- is personal preference.

Most would give the edge in comfort to the suede, particularly if it is unlined, with the single flex sole, although both are very comfortable.  The PTB will be more durable.

At bottom, I view -- and, of course, others will likely differ -- the suede as being more of a specialty shoe given its look and its limited ability to stand up to bad weather.  Even though the weather limitation can be ameliorated with some suede care products, it is still is more delicate and a more of a particular look. personally, I love the snuff suede and if it were my choice between the two and this particular shoe choice was not needed to be a regular wear item, I would not even consider the PTB.  But I think this statements and its "ifs" simply highlights that this is almost purely a choice of personal preference.

Speaking of the Aberdeen, how about the Leffot Cooney boot? Has anyone been able to resist it? Since most of the action is on the Barrie, I feel compelled to pop for anything exciting that shoes up on Grant or Aberdeen...
