Seriously though, the McNeil is a fine shoe but there is absolutely no comparison as far as fit, comfort, finishing, and overall quality. The difference in calf or color 8 shell is about $175 and well worth it IMHO. nod%5B1%5D.gif

well I mean AE MacNeil Burguendy Shell vs. Alden LWB #8 Shell in barrie

Same answer my friend, no comparison... minor leagues compared to the Show (MLB)

I'd be down for the color 8 alt wien boot on the plaza (I want it slimmer/more dressy than the Barrie) I think there's at least 4 people on this thread who have expressed interest just over the last 2-3 pages. Would just need 2 more.

I need those rolls and not those creases though........  worship.gif

Lol... rotflmao.gif

For $250 less and 3 day delivery (as opposed to a 1 year or longer wait), the creasing can tie you over until then. biggrin.gif

Were they actually cxl? And I returned my original pair cause of the orange tint so sounds like I should pick up another pair

I don't know, but there is a distinct difference between what I own (3 years old) and what is now being sold.  The SA was wearing them also and they looked great.

I did see a dark brown natural chxl LWB at Leffot the other day.  They are not the same color.  IMHO, the new J Crew tobacco LWBs look better than the Leffot nat chxl LWB, but both are great.

I love the patina that forms in the section between the line of the cap toe and the lacing.  Starting to get that variation in color in my cap toe boots, beautiful... wear in great health my friend!

ps the garbage can in the background doesn't help the look. biggrin.gif

Lots of good tips. One more I'll add is be prepared to pull the trigger right away if something pops up. If you hesitate then someone else will swoop in and buy them. I've been able to purchase a ravello LWB and Alden of DC cigar captoe boot off of B&S and a cigar indy from J. Gilbert this way. Good luck.

Its so funny I had my exotics before any regular shells. I walked into both pairs it wasn't until I began to participate in this forum that I realized how lucky I had been. 0 exotics since.

Yeah I had two Indy boots then got anatomica ravello and color 4 wingtip boots. Also almost got day trippers but held off on phone. Funny how it works out, beginners luck I guess

This is a cross post from the suede thread, but since it deals with Alden, I'm asking it here as well:

Provided I take proper care of a pair of Alden suede long wings, is the leather durable enough to allow the shoes to go through Alden's restoration program or will they be too junked up so as not to make restoration worthwhile?

I knew shell certainly is, but I'd rather buy a less expensive pair of suede shoes if I can't have them resoled 1-2 times.

Thanks.
