Cross post from Epaulet thread. Natural LWB on Leydon last. A pretty good pic for color representation.

As promised. Darker than the Epaulet studio pics, but still with lots of contrast. Natural welt should really look nice with age.

^Oboy - the color on those look great. Much better than the Ep pix suggest.

Nice look.

Wow, didn't realize it might take that long. Is something like a #8 LWB in C usually more available?
Thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of Alden pre-orders....I have 4 pairs on order right now - the first should get here in the next 3-4 months, but I still have about a year and a half wait before I have all of them in my possession.

I would assume the #8 would be more available. My first try would be the official Alden stockists - Alden DC and SF. Then I'd look next the Alden Madison Ave or the Shoe Mart. In my experience if you're looking for something, don't rely on what's posted on the web. Instead, call the store. Alden SF is generally very helpful in my experience.

Yep, #8 LWBs are readily available from most Alden retailers. Any store that stocks a #8 LWB, even if they don't have it on hand, can order one from Alden's warehouse and have it to you in a couple days.

looking for a pair of #8 boots and trying to decide between:

A. plaza indy from frans boone

B. plaza NST tanker from j.gilbert (same as picture but on commando soles)

want the option to be able to wear them with dressier slacks as well as more casual chinos. what do people think?

thanks in advance
I have the J Gilbert Color 8 in the captoe boot, but I have tried on the NST Tanker they have as well. It's very sleek, a great boot. I think the two are fairly similar though so It's really a personal choice. If you live in a rainy/snowy climate though I'd go for the J Gilbert as it has a commando sole if I recall.... I know my pair does...

How much did you size up for the Leydon from you Barrie size?
half size from barrie
i wear true to size for leydon

For me, I would wear 10 in Barrie except there is so much heel volume that I can't wear that last. Sizing down to 9.5 creates length issues for my toes. It's safe to say I have low volume feet.

So, I wear 10 in Leydon, which is perfect (for quick ref, I'm 10 in Red Wings and Danner boots, 10.5 in Clark's, and 11 in most sneakers incl. Jack Purcells)

Here's a question for you guys, and before I get flamed I'm really trying to understand, what's so great about chukkas? I've never seen one in person and I guess I just don't see what makes them desirable? Do they wear differently or something? Please enlighten me!
Sorry for the non-Alden tangent but thought of this post while wearing my chukkas today. :)

I really hate shoemart right now. I ordered the Shell Cordovan longwings from the irregulars list and the order and they "claimed" they sent me an email about a shipping address conflict, so instead of calling me with the number they asked me to give, they sell the shoe to the next person and don't even notify me until i happen to call to find out why my order was not shipped for a whole week.

Ugh.

what are the major difference between lined and unlined shoes? wouldn't we want lined shoes if they provide it?
