Did you look at all the pictures, one boot is seriously jacked up. I'm all for a score off the seconds list but that one is too far gone for me.

IIRC, they offer a 10% discount to SF members each month (not sure if they're still doing this). While I don't think I saw chukkas on their site last time I looked, they are an Alden dealer and, therefore, could arguably have the Leydon chukkas drop shipped to you. Best of luck in the hunt! My Leydon chukkas feel like slippers and have been super comfy to wear in hot, humid weather.

In another matter, all the color 8 talk inspired me to share my most acquisition, a pair of Plaza-lasted wt boots in color 8 from LeatherSoul, who threw in a free pair of shoe trees as a thank you for my previous orders. Here are some iPhone pics:

They're dressier, yet even comfier than all of my Barrie-lasted shoes and boots. Now, if only someone created a Plaza wt boot in Ravello...

Question for Uncle: I've started giving more thought to getting some tassels. Can one rock these ok under the age of 40?

Final tho
ught: I wish I pulled the trigger on the Alt Wiens from Epaulet when I had a chance. You guys who did are looking good. Wear in great health!

nephew,
wear your wt boots in good health
I started to wear tassels in my teens
tassels are one of aldens best models

I'm doing the Mac method this afternoon as I get some research done this afternoon from home. Can't wait to get them out on the street.

Advice needed. My Leather Soul plaza wingtip boots arrived today, but there are some stitching problems on the right boot. While I understand that the extra thread indicated by the blue circle can be fixed easily, I have no idea what to do with the problem in the red circle. Any suggestion?

Oh... they somehow have also punched a hole in the tongue of the right boot.

Should I return them? I'm more inclined towards keeping them since they look absolute gorgeous if I ignore these problems. Leather Soul said they don't have another pair in the same size, so I can't do an exchange without a really long wait. I would definitely keep them if anyone know how to fix the problem indicated by the red circle. Please advise!

Thank you, Sir.  Very kind of you to say.  I have noticed that you put together great ensembles as well.

Shall we say that it takes fine taste to recognize fine taste?

Loose stitching.  It happens.  Sometimes I get that from brushing.  The hole on the tongue is quite mysterious, but nobody will see it while it is covered by your pant leg.  Not even you.

While this is indeed very unfortunate, you will just have to accept it.  As you say, you are inclined to keep them and a replacement is not readily available.

It really is too bad about Alden QC. deadhorse-a.gif

By Jupiter, yes we shall say so. Those of us who bear the burden of living in a world of the sartorially challenged are humbled by your kind reputation.

You should keep them.

looks to be a double stitch circled in red- could be cut lower so you see more of the perforation wear the thread pulls out. Not a defect and not worth cutting the thread

since you then damage the seam and create an actual defect.

These Alden boots are works of art and this pair, is your pair.

the hole is character and has likely been there since the Horween Factory. Whats one more hole on brogue boot

Kicked a stonewall wearing these - had the worst scuff on any shoe ever. Mac method and the spoon trick with reno. Not even a sign of damage. I could never do that with calf, that is fix the shoe not kicking the stonewall. Oh also dripped edge dressing all over these the following week. Mac method = problem solved.

These have an odd stitch somewhere as well, eventually I laced up my shoes and went to work that day.

Now only $2000.00 American dollars on Ebay

Really want to keep them, but you know - once you've seen it, it cannot be unseen - and it becomes more and more noticeable every time I look at it. I will bring them to a cobbler and see if he has any suggestion about how to fix it (of course I will have an hour long discussion with him before I left him touch the boot).
