) from the Hanger Project, which includes both Shapir Renovateur and Shapir Super Invulner Protector. I have a pair of snuff suede alden chukkas x JCrew (crepe sole) and I want to protect them so I can start wearing them and no get worried about a sudden rainstorm. What would you gentlemen recommend as far as preparing these for their first use? Is Nano Protector or Saphir Super Invulner preferred over each other? What does the Shapir Renovateur do? How often and how much should I apply of this stuff?

Thanks!

i recently purchased the nano protector as well to apply to some leather soul safari boots. i don't know if you watched the video on the leffot website of the water just running off the shoes, but i tested it and that's exactly what it does. it doesn't change the color at all or do anything to the shoe. it will change the hue a tiny bit if you spray it too close or too much on (i did this in one small spot) but the color change will go away in a few hours. i'm normally averse to using synthetic products ever, especially on anything that's natural like a hide, but this stuff rocks. after i applied it to the shoes, my girlfriend applied it to some suede pants she had. some thing. works amazing.

Thanks for the replies.

The bowing is definitely worse on the left foot than on the right foot, also if I tie the shoes really tight the issue is somewhat reduced. All around the shoes fit pretty well, the left shoe is a tiny bit long but the right is about perfect.

I had basically given up finding shoes that fit me before I discovered that quality leather shoes often are offered in wider widths.

I live in Norway so even the cheapest cedar trees from eBay would cost me about the same as buying a pair in store when I'm visiting NYC. I'm going to visit both Leffot and Allen Edmonds to see if I can find a few pairs of nice fitting shoes.

If you'll be in NYC, I'd stop by epaulet as well. They carry some nice alden models and plenty of other great stuff as well.

Yeah, I was planning to visit both Leffot and Epaulet. Are there any other stores that's worth a visit?

Im in nyc now and truthfully there is everything you could want. JM Weston, Saks etc. Saks has a pretty solid variety. Like others I prefer leffot, wonderful service, Steven and Che are both great. If you're into denim I suggest blue in green. Raw denim and Alden are a great combo. Yesterday I had to wait to walk down greene st as Cameron Diaz was filming a movie just an fyi.

With the Thor boot still not confirmed by Alden, we're kicking around some ideas for a non-shell MTO with Alden DC instead. Current idea is a dark brown suede Indy, plaza last, commando sole, all eyelets. If you're interested, check out the current thread here:

Citishoes might be worth checking out.

Aren't you in on the Kudu Indy mto on the modified with Moulded Shoe? And you already have this?

About to give up on Alden loafers. Recently received my suede lhs, which is indeed a beautiful shoe... but i'm sure after a few wears my foot is going to slip out.

When you wear this loafer, do you guys start out with the fit being snug or is there some looseness when you walk due to the leather sole?

Does anyone know if the AE players belt in snuff suede is similar in color to the Alden snuff suede chukkas?

If memory serves correct, Brooks Brothers, Alden (Madison), and Allen Edmonds are all within a block of each other.  J Crew at 30 Rock is a short walk away (they carry several Alden options in store).  The next time I'm on the Island, I will visit Citishoes and Crockett & Jones.

Happy travels my friend!

Epaulet is also offering a suede belt that looks as if it may be close to snuff.

Yes, I started the Kudu Indy MTO list.  That's how much I like these boots (and the Modified Last).
