That is why I have purchased some boots on the Commando, incluidng the model pictured.

This is the standard Alden of Carmel makeup

He's after this look, but with the crepe sole:

As was the case with my first pair, he was a bit hesitant to spend this kind of money on a pair of shoes. Was just trying to save him a few dollars. Hoping he likes them and that addiction will ensue.

a good example of what thrashed suede can look like. looks pretty cool, imo. like they've really lived.

how does one even get it to be like that in those places? is that just normal wear?

Yep, they sure do... In black and No. 8 shell, they refer to the V-tips as an Algonquin blucher... They're nice, I bought them in both colors...

Denim hems rubbing against suede have done that to various pairs of desert boots I've owned.

I just bought some snuff suede PTB's from Epualet and sprayed them with AE waterproofer. They seem to have lost a lot of that rich texture they had before I sprayed them. I've brushed them for a while after they dried, but it's just not the same. Any advice?

The Alden natural CXL tassels were tempting but I just bought a couple Gatsby shirts and a shoe brush.

The info for the BB sale worked well, and on cordovan.
Thanks for the tip!

Was told that the American Bar Association has provided a corporate code for are all if its members nation-wide to use during this BB Corporate promotion (30% off).  Any lawyers out there using this perk?  If anyone is looking to pick up some shell tassel mocs, I'd jump on'em soon.  Contrary to LS's characterization of the perf cap toe oxford/bal, I've heard the true attorney shoe is in fact the tassel moc. BB may have a depleted stock by the end of the week!

I bought a pair from Amore Clothing last year, around $575, tax included. I think Rob (Robert) was my contact person.

The suede spray?  or did you get something else?  I used their suede spray on two pairs of shoes, and it had no adverse effects.

Paste wax and Saphir cordovan cream are different.  The saphir has a moisturizing aspect to it.  That doesn't necessarily make it better, just different.  Some would agree that the wax offers a layer of protection, sort of like wax on a car.  I have both, and rarely use either.  Having either would be fine.  If they need moisture and you only have wax, use Venetian or Reno.

Agreed, follow the Mac break in method and you shouldn't have to worry about excessive wear on the toe.  When the heel wears out, it is easily replaced.

Thanks Bakes! That was helpful.
