Thank you Uncle. I will try to wear them year round, but it might be difficult in July and August.

unlined cxl chukka on flex welt, yes please.

I know about the Mac method et all but would you say that shell needs waxing at least twice a year or something (my shoes are not exposed to much dust and dirt)

Lastly is Alden/Kiwi paste wax good enough or do forum members feel using Saphir cordovan cream would be a good investment over Alden wax to ensure longevity and good looks?

If you don't think they need wax, then don't use it.  If there does come a time when they need it, use it sparingly.

Paste wax and Saphir cordovan cream are different.  The saphir has a moisturizing aspect to it.  That doesn't necessarily make it better, just different.  Some would agree that the wax offers a layer of protection, sort of like wax on a car.  I have both, and rarely use either.  Having either would be fine.  If they need moisture and you only have wax, use Venetian or Reno.

That sole is like a brick.

Agreed, follow the Mac break in method and you shouldn't have to worry about excessive wear on the toe.  When the heel wears out, it is easily replaced.

Thank you to all that helped answer my question regarding taps.  I appreciate the help.

A leather soled shoe - single or double - first broken-in on carpet, is never a bad thing. It is a procedure many on here adhere to - whether the Mac Method or otherwise. It is particularly useful to aviod excessive toe wear.

I am considering ordering

Handmade All–Weather Walker

If I end up disliking the heavy crepe soles ... could somebody like b nelson or even Alden change them into double leather waterlocks?  Thanks for any info.

Anybody know where I can find these? Outside of Japan.

#8 Leffot Tankers, maiden voyage.

Good lord I need these. Cannot find them in 12.5D for the life of me. Hopefully Context will have a reissue and I'll be able to pre-order some...

The snuff upl model is a standard Alden model. I.e., any Alden retailer should be able to order the exact size and width you need. I wonder if you could ask the need supply folks to order directly from Alden and have the shoes drop shipped to you. If this works out, you can save the 10% with their May code and buy some shoe trees or socks.

Good luck!

Thanks docalden2013 and Olivia at Need Supply. Flawless service and snuff suede LHS perfect right out of box: Forgive lack of sun---

Leffot also did another pre order earlier this year, but it looks like it's over. JGilbert also pre orders #8 NST Boots, though they are on the Plaza.
