Thoughts on the Alden Aviator being sold @ Orvis? I was thinking about cashing in some rewards points on an Orvis gift card and picking up a pair of these...

I want those black Indys so bad, it is still on backorder (in my size anyways) and I believe I am still 3rd or 4th on the list for my size.

I'm sure they're top flight quality, but I prefer other leathers over nubuck or suede for boots.

I actually just called a retail store and they said that they can place the order from their store and have it shipped to you free.

It looks like a nice boot. I am looking more toward suede right now and having a pair of Ultimate Indy's make these moot. But there is nothing wrong with these.

Interesting chromexcel plain toe boot on the shelf there. The leather is a lot lighter in color than the chromexcel indy pictured. Wonder what last it's on.

I would not call Red Wing crappy. I would, however, simply buy a nice new pair of 1907s for less than 1/2 the price of those.

The natural chromexcel ptbs are awesome. Let's see that leather on other styles.

Do you own any Alden? Dude RW pales in comparison. After handling them I'm just not impressed.
