I was under the impression that Kathy had a bunch of them in stock.  Not sure what their stock is like now.  You should call and ask for all of their

whiskey options in stock in your size.

I almost acquired a pair but I had already exceeded my monthly Alden allowance. Which last is most comparable to the tremont? Did you size down or was it tts? I

always get a little gun shy purchasing a last I've haven't tried on before.

I bought the same pair from her as well; I don't wear them as much as my whiskey PTB. Same size as Barrie for me.

As for suede, I love it. I had doubts because I was ignorant and though high (to me) end suede would be fragile and stain, blah. blah blah.

Well I picked up to pairs of white suede Alden's in one week. First I ordered some white suede bucks off the seconds list. A couple of days later I walked into Alden DC and they had a white suede saddle shoe one sale for a price I could not pass up so I grabbed those.

I had doubts about white bucks as I have NEVER worn them before. But since I had two pairs of white I just forgot about getting them dirty, stained or scuffed. Now I cannot wait to break them out (soon!). I wear them all summer, with and without socks. As a matter of fact I wore them at a beach wedding and it was perfect.

Later that year I picked up a pair of snuff suede plain toe boots with crepe soles off of the seconds list. Again I had some fears about getting them stained or messing them up. Now I love them and appreciate them for the ability to wear them in rain and even mud. I still do not like wearing shell in rain because of a bad experience with water spots, but suede is like this magic leather that I have grown to love. I think it is right behind chromexcel with cordovan for me.

Here is a pic of the white suede saddle shoes:

And here are the boots in Mexico:

I also have to add that I was anti crepe for a while but have also grown to love crepe through actual use.

Seconds list? I haven't gotten one recently...11d anyone?

Ps love the white suede saddle those are great

never seen this shoe in real life, but it doesn't look great in that pic. i've been tempted by the medallion toe oxford at j. gilbert, but not a ptb.

Thank you, but I should've clarified that I'd be interested in a shell PTB on the Plaza. I don't understand why the sleeker lasts such as the Plaza are more common with calf than shell.

J Gilbert does a #8 shell plain toe boot on the Plaza. May work for you?

It is my favorite plain toe boot, high boot or chukka, on any last, hands down.

Tried posting this earlier, but don't know what happened to my post...I'll try again.

Quick question, guys: I just picked up my first pair of LWB's on a Leydon last in a 8 D.  I wear a 7.5 D Indy boot.  Do you guys also have a lot of room in the toe area?  My big toe nails are right underneath the inside brogues, which are circled red in my pic.  I can stick my index finger behind my heel when my feet are scrunched forward. Thanks in advance for the help!

BTW, I just ordered the 9901 (black shell, standard lined) and think it's pure class:

Nice pick up. Black shell is underrated. My only pair is a longwing that I bought after some encouragement from Sevenfold (thanks man) and am glad I did. It's one of the more frequented shoes in my humble collection. I've been eyeing the plain toe for a while now and would love to see some pictures or one of your videos once you have them in-hand.

Is the Alden Shop of San Francisco owned by Alden?  Their contact email is online@aldenshoe.com, they ship internationally, and they have a factory restoration kit.  Never noticed all that before.

It is.

i thought none of the alden stores (madison, dc, sf, carmel) were owned by alden, but that they were franchises?

Is there any special care/instructions for taking care of the welt for the Indy boots? I have the 403 and the welt is darkening in color in places where I accidentally got some saphir renovateur on. I recall the welt being much lighter when I got it, and it's a darker, and nicer, brown now - but really dark where the reno got on it.

DC and SF are owned by Alden. NYC and Carmel are not
