Guys, I know that this is the Alden thread, but while we are on the topic of customer service, I want to point out that Paul Grangaard, the rock star CEO of Allen Edmonds, has posted twice on the AE thread THIS WEEK. I support and purchase Allen Edmonds because of customer service like that. I do like Alden but a little love from the Alden CEO (does anyone even know who it is? Is it a member of the Alden family?) would really go a long way. To compare, Grangaard mentioned specific problems and offered his personal email address to correct them. My 2 ¢ for the evening.

That is very commendable indeed.

I believe Alden's Pres. is Aurthur Tarlow JR, who is a descendant of the founders.

(Correct me if i'm wrong)

Good finding, Mediahound. I do want to say that the Alden website has made a grievous error in their welting tab. They say that Goodyear construction is "by far" the best form of welting their is. This is simply not true. The finest welting there is is hand welting. I know this first hand because I got schooled by DWFII on this very topic on another thread. I guess this settles the whole line of questioning about what methods Alden uses to secure their soles.

No

What concerns me is that I saw a pair of these available for sale in my size two days ago when the shoe was first posted on the website. Any chance they sold mine and used the excuse that mine were defective? Even if it was an extra on order, wouldn't you think that they would make sure the preordered units were good prior to putting any extras for sale on the website?

Went through a similar situation last month. I purchased a pair of cigars online minutes after they were offered on the website, but received an email days later apologizing for the "inventory mistake" instead. The retailer only had x pairs in my size, and the pair I had bought was not getting shipped to me. It was all very disappointing.

Less than a month later my alden unicorn found me, in my size, and in unworn condition. I didn't even have to kill for them (argentino).

Life is like a green box of shoes...

I just bought some from directly from AE (2 for $19.50 ea plus tax free shipping and arrived from Wisc. overnight) and they claim on their site and on the boxes and trees that theirs are made in their Port Washington, Wisc. factory. From Arkansas cedar, I think. Of any of that matters.

I never find myself at outlet stores, so I was happy with the price and the origin.

It's about time... They are now almost into the 21st century (a vast improvement, but still short of being a modern website)... I really don't understand what their issue is with "the Internet" or anything Internet related...

Now that's impressive and a modern CEO approach... Like Nick Horween who often posts in Style Forum... Regrettably, I don't expect to see that from the Alden CEO... They're too ivory towered... And too Internet phobic..

However, I will not hold this against you.

Sorry, I could not keep that to myself.  I am very passionate about my dislike for that city.

Bakes, I am with you my friend... I can not stand the black and gold on their gridiron.  Charm City is more to my liking... SB Champs! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Of course I have solid rebuttal in defense of Pittsburgh, but I'll let it go in the interest of not derailing the Alden forum.

Salute gentlemen!

I guess Woodlore is actually owned by Allen Edmonds.

Complete re-sole from B.Nelson? Looks great.

You should consider getting those pants hemmed; they look way too long.
