ArtofWardrobe, I applaud you for your excellent idea to initiate Patina Sundays, but certainly the following guidelines are appropriate...
1.  Posted pics need to be your own (otherwise I could simply search through the internet).
2.  Pics shouldn't be artificially enhanced... Sorry El Argentino, while I absolutely love your snap speed pics, I was hoping to see aged shell and natural patina.  But by all means, keep posting those amazing looking pictures!

haha - I understand the point of Patina Sunday would be to show patina as TTL as possible, so I wouldn't snapseed those smile.gif Today's post wasn't meant to kick off Patina Sunday, just a standard shot from day's activities.

The writing inside says just 974. However, Mac pointed out to me that these are a six-eyelet pair, as opposed to the standard 974 which is five-eyelet. So they're either the BB version, or really, really old. (Ebay snag, so TBH I'm not sure).

Water spots and editing rules be damned. Sorry dudes, eggs have to be hidden and the kids must play.

If I am out of line, forgive me.  I'll just observe and read.smile.gif

Love the ideas brother, keep them coming. I know not all who follow this thread own Aldens so I thought it would be a good opportunity for those guys to get involved as well. But I'm cool with posting personal collection photos only, if that's what the group decides. Either way I'm hoping to see a lot of beat-to-shit Indys and golden brown whiskeys.

Edit: comma added after "only" for clarification

El aren't those the ones that you painstakingly restored... I think you had posted some before and after shots (and some progress shots too)... They look awesome...

+1. I've got them in black. They're ridiculously comfortable.

Looking good hiding those eggs in your cordovan indy's. I did the same today but had to go with a pair of vans for my egg hiding adventure. I was at the beach though which is where i have to draw the line for wearing aldens......nod[1].gif

I saw those in Leffot last week and had to try really hard not to buy them impulsively. Awesome shoes in real life. Nice score.

if by wishlisted you mean a product that has a delivery date further out than normal shipping.. all 4 pair of Aldens purchased from them have arrived earlier than quoted.. I remember reading somewhere that the CEO of Jcrew admits that they would prefer to quote a date and then exceed expectation by delivering earlier.

I had the opposite experience. Mine were delayed once (by a week) and then shipped later than the delayed date (by another week). I guess that even J. Crew doesn't have the magical ability to get Alden to deliver on time.

Still a cool illusion though.

Thanks for posting it.

The term "Gunboats" is not unique to Alden and LWBs all have the same basic characteristics - the picture makes sense in that context. If you use your imagination and look at your the shoes top down, they will have the appearance of gunboats. In size, character, shape and weight. Big, heavy, distinctive brogues. Hence the term "Gunboats".
