I never liked the extra room at the toe box but Alden and Red Wing kept on telling me this. While I followed their suggestion and was okay with it, if I like snug fit, can I size down extra half on everything?

It could be an issue if you walk around and your feet swell a bit.

I've had this happen to me when on a business trip and I had to walk several blocks to another location in the Summer. After the walk, my shoes felt like they fit too small. When I got back to the hotel room, I had blisters.

Now with my Aldens, sized correctly per Alden's guidelines, I never have that problem and they feel like they are good for my feet all the time basically.

Is there a place to purchase the wingtip boot in color 8 with a rubber sole in a size 11.5 D? I only see up to 11 D on Alden of Carmel.

If I want to have boots with this kind of white outsole, I would choose Red Wing, rather than Alden.
I am not saying Alden is not good, but I just feel Alden is not those kind of boots.

Do you have any of the rl shells from c&j? Is there any difference between that color and the carmina chestnut?

I don't have any C&J, but I think the Carmina color is very similar to the C&Js from what I've been told.

That was exactly what I was thinking -
however, looking at that sole, I could see these being wildly comfortable -
I jumped on the preorder, but now I'm having second thoughts - really torn -
I think I'll wait until they actually arrive, let me see them in person and give them a chance

Great for guys in L.A. who wear boots and 21oz denim in July, and for whom Danner boots are too plebe.

looking for a black shoe to wear with suits. any suggestions. im thinking black shell balmoral captoes on aberdeen?

A good choice. Additionally, LS recently had a black and #8 shell Hampton last makeup -- PTB with a medallion, I believe.
