Here you go.  This pic is a couple of months old and I have quite a few boots in my rotation so I may wear a pair once every three weeks or so.  That's why they probably don't look too beat up.  But I do try to take care of my footwear.

I've never had the privilege of seeing it 'in the flesh', but thought I'd share these pics that I found for the others among us who have not been so fortunate.

Mahogany & Ravello

These ones I think have already been posted recently...

Oh man, Pebble Grain!  Why does Alden spoil the Japanese while depriving their fellow Americans?

More pics of the same shoe above.

Edit:  Here is the Lakota #4 for comparison purposes.

looks kind of similar to the 3rd pic, but not identical.

Once every 3 weeks?

That sounds like one hell of an extensive line-up, Sir.

It's a shame you don't see that color anymore. Having owned that pair of shoes, the mahogany was in between whiskey and ravello (slightly darker in real life than in the photo). It was a very wearable color.

Hey REguy, is that wingtip on the tremont last?  I'm wondering if my whiskey bal wingtip (tremont last) will look like this Mahogany wingtip after some age.  They look very similar.

Also, I'm very close to dragging my brother into this mess as he's considering buying his first pair of Aldens. I'm more excited about his potential purchase than he is. He's deciding between the following:

- Natural chromexcel plain toe boot, leather sole (don't have details on the sole), modified last

- J. Crew color 8 perforated captoe boot, barrie last

I've recommended he get both but he hasn't yet reached that level of irrationality. His foot fits the modified last perfectly but he's a bit unsure about the look of the pigeon-y toe. I know modified last is harder to come by but shell is shell and would likely push him one step closer to geeking out with me over edge trims and lacing styles.

Thoughts on his first Aldens?

Natty chromexcel is pretty cool, but hands down, the J Crew color 8 Cap toe boot should be the choice (imho).  However, I suppose it depends on what your brother wants to wear with this first Alden boots.  The J Crew boot is much more versatile; it dresses up much better than Natty Chrmxl, and can be worn casually as well.  If he's looking for a casual more rugged look, the PT boot may be a better choice.

Where the natural CXL PT boot on the modified available?

the j. crew boot seems/looks much sleeker than a barrie last, it feels narrower than other barrie last shoes i own, especially in the toe box, but the length is the same.

It was on the Aberdeen, but it seemed pointier, almost like how the tassel mocs look different than a normal Aberdeen oxford even though they're on the same last.

Looking at all those old AoC pictures also reminded me of how much more attention used to be paid to the quality of the shoes. It's quite sad how much less of a shoe they are now compared to even 20 years ago. Such is life.

Is the NRO snuff suede PTB like the Epaulet, since they're both Leydon?  Any differences?

my small shell collection. put some saphir on the two #8 pair while watching some college bball this afternoon. i took some photos in direct sunlight to show how much burgundy comes out. these pics make me realize i'm in need of some dark edge dressing. being in Seattle, i do not shy away from wearing in the rain. i had some #8 lwb at one point but they didn't fit in my wardrobe very well. i'm more than satisfied with these.

unlined ptb - crease like crazy
plain toe boot, plaza - probably my fav
black cordo cap toe

Suede PTB owners... How should the initial fit be. Mine feel like they fit well in the toebox with just a bit of heelslip. I cannot imagine a half size down would fit but wanted to ask my fellow nuts. These are on the Barrie and I went with the same size as my Barrie boots

+1 I also use Meltonian.  I've also used AE suede spray.  I got caught in a mild drizzle, and the water beaded up nicely on the outside.  You may need to reapply every once in a while.

Thanks to all.
