Yeah the buyers I know in industry tell me that the Chinese want to do their own version of Horween materials as they hoard all their hides. Being Chinese, I don't know how I feel about this. shog[1].gif

BTW, my thoughts on Adam/AoC: he's boundaried about the returns, but he is a thorough guy and a gentleman. I was a bit put off by the printed card stock announcing his return policy, as well as his several e-mails reminding me to not leave signs of a try-on. However, in the end, he answered all of my questions and sent me a pristine pair, which was followed up by a very inquisitive and thankful e-mail about a week after the purchase. I concur with others on the forum: I would buy from him again, but only if I had established my size from a purchase or try-on elsewhere. NB: He apparently stocks shoes not listed on his website; I think it's worth it to ask him specifically about pairs you're looking for. I had no way of knowing he had cigar LWBs a couple weeks ago. In fact, he said to me that he still has some on hand, so go for it!

Take care,

Same experience and feelings about Adam.  All positive on my end.

I just received some Cigar longwings from AofC.  These are my fourth pair of Alden's and are by far the best I have in terms of quality/variance.  I have a 975 and two pairs of 990 for reference.

Anyway, is there a way to avoid the delamination that is happening to my other pair?

I believe from some of his posts that he is an accountant (or maybe a CFO or controller or something). I remember he sort of disappeared back around the end of the fiscal year and he's probably a bit busy again right now too.

Great shoe.

I acquired this ravello model from TSM about a month ago. I like it even more than I thought I would.

I'm still debating about whether ~$900 is a justifiable price to plunk down for those Plaza shell 8 indy's on Frans Boone.

Is it really $900 to the US?  Are you sure 900 doesn't include VAT that you would not be subject to?  I think you might actually be at $716 before shipping and potential duties.

My boots from them were approximately $821 USD with shipping to US (customs fees not included)

What'd they charge for shipping? 25 euros right?  I think under the current exchange rate they'd be ~$750 shipped (no customs)

How am I supposed to sleep tonight?!!

Plus, my wife is already sick of the Alden obsession, rolling her eyes that the first thing I wanted to do tonight was to get the alpine grains off so i could vigorously brush the heck out of them after getting caught in this ice storm tonight.
