Nice! Was unaware of that, thanks.

Point is well taken, and reasonable minds can disagree. But I would suggest that snuff is the best color if you are looking for a suede shoe to wear all year. IMO, it absolutely works in the summer.

I agree with all that you say here.

Between the two J Crews offerings in snuff and tan/camel, I would get the snuff just because it has the single oiled sole. I don't hate on the crepe sole but like the oiled sole better.

However, I've got a pair of snuff LWBs in almost that exact configuration and also a pair of tan suede wing tips.
I find myself wearing the tan much more often than the snuff.

Nicely "beat" boots... What's the sole?

There's a shot a few pages back of mine after a hike. Yeah, I am actually trying to beat up shell. Problem? biggrin.gif

Commando sole, mine are theshoemarts version with all eyelets, about a year old at this point. My three year old daughter can pull off saddles, for me though........not really my style.

Alden for J. Crew Longwing Bluchers, item# 18580. I wear progressive lenses now, so without my glasses I use echo location.

I'd go with the snuff suede (darker) LWB over the camel (lighter) LWB as I do not care much for crepe soles.  (Both available presently.)  Their calf LWB offerings (tobacco, dark brown, and black) all have double leather soles and are solid choices but overpriced imo ($525).  You can find these occasionally on ebay brand new for much less.

if you're on short haul flights you won't. i tend to fly trans-continental more often than not.

Speaking of LWBs..

This is my whole (modest) Alden family, consisting predominantly of LWBs smile.gif I just love this style.

I dress almost exclusively casually, the cigar LWB w/ dark welt being at the "dressiest" level I may occasionally want to take myself to smile.gif

I think it's been about a year now since I first heard of Alden.

Great looking collection.

Looks like you've got a good deal of diversity within the Alden brand.

Beautiful, can you show me more pictures of the Natty CXL? Would love to see how that pairs up with outfits too..

Despite what the J Crew description says, they're not CXL.
