Haha - yes, I have huge feet. 11.5s on the Barrie.

I have completely fallen in love w/ Snapseed. I highly recommend it. It's very intuitive, and you can quickly adjust things to reach the same basic end (almost like a forumla), which is what I've taken to doing w/ most of my most recent Aldenphotos here in the thread. Like the custom ElArg filter. lol8[1].gif
Thanks - I'm loving how these are aging. No assistant on these photos; my wife laughs at me as I lean over my shoes, awkwardly holding my phone out in front of me to take a blind shot.

Very nice

Made me grab Snapseed myself. Pretty cool app... Used it for some slight adjustments on a group photo a few pages back.

I know recently someone was asking about belts and I wanted to throw out a recommendation for Mitchell Leather. Dave is more known for top notch briefcases but he also builds belts and wallets. I recently acquired a belt from him and could not be more pleased with it! Dave was super responsive and helpful through the whole process. Ultimately, I went with a 1.5" (more casual) with Horween Nut Brown Dublin leather with matching stitching and a brass buckle. The pics don't really do the quality of the belt justice but below are a few shots...

I suppose if you wanted a slight stretch in the width you could go with medium.  I'm also at the borderline with 10.5D (10D in barrie).  Good luck...

AE shoe trees are made by Woodlore, which AE owns. My alden shoe trees are all made by Rochester shoe tree company. The split-toe shapes are different. I have seen nordy rack carry either one or the other, but not both at the same time.

What are the qualitative differences between the two trees? Aside from the toe of course. I worry about creasing on my shells.

Hi folks,
Great pics over the past few days. Hope everyone is wearing their Alden's in good health.

Question about alpine grain as I contemplate the LS alpine grain boot with the brass eyelets: what makes for your reservations about Alpine grain? Is it the texture that makes it difficult to pair with stuff? Is there difficulty in care and maintenance? Comfort issues?

Re the eyelets: any reservations there? Is it a mortal or simply venial sin if a watch or belt buckle is not the same color?

I think I like the boot and am ready to pull the trigger (amazing how the $500 range comes to seem like a relief after catching the shell fever). However I've never seen alpine grain in person. I do feel like the LS guys know their stuff, so can I really go wrong? Obviously, I know we're all biased towards there being room for one more shoe, but I would really welcome earnest feedback about reasons to hold off (especially as I might just be tiding myself over with a boot while waiting for the Leffot naval). For now, I have the LS ultimate Indy and the DC grant last #8 caps for boots and an AE Haight with a comfy dainite sole for boots. Is there any way to wear the Alpine with a suit? Or is it simply a casual affair?

Thanks in advance for your help, guys!

Hi.  New to the board, but not new to Alden.  Glad to have found a group of folks who will enable more shell purchases.

I have my eye on some cigar shell LHS.

I wear an 8D in the Aberdeen Tassel.  How should I size in the Van last?

Many size a half down  (7.5D) and others say half down and one width (7.5C).  I simply go half down but I would try on both.  Good luck!

I can wear 11.5D in Aberdeen and went with 11D in Van. I did wait to buy an LHS until I could try a pair on. I know that's not always possible.

Both brands have good trees. Don't stress about it so much.

I use AE full toe (not split toe) and Alden split toe (that's all they have). Both work well.

Thanks guys!

Have you called the web number to have them check all retail stores? That's how I acquire many of my Alden for BB shells.

Hello Alden Brethren,

I received my second pair of Context Roy Roys the other day and they looked a bit different out of the gate compared to my 2-year old pair. When I tried them on, the shoes felt entirely different to me. Upon closer inspection and comparison they look to be on a different last. They were advertised as Trubalance but the instep and cap look very different to me. None of my dozen or so Barrie and Trubalance lasted shoes/boots fit like this pair.

Could I have your opinion? Any contenders for the last? Perhaps Modified?
