As to the belt I have a pair of ae swbs in chili that I shine w/ saphir congnac (very red)color seems close to the color 4 pic ive seen . unfortunately ive never spotted it in the real world

A #4 LWB would be great!

Boot. Plaza/Grant last (...Modified...?). Medallion cap-toe. Pull-tabs. All eyelets. 270-degree welt. Commando sole. drool.gif

We tried via the Alden MTO thread with Kathy to get a #4 boot produced for us and anything #4 is a no go. Don't know why #4 is so rare, but it pops up from time to time. Heck, will we be lucky if we ever hear back that Alden confirms the Thor make-up. smile.gif

Cigar Medallion Cap Toe

The Cigar Atoms at Leffot are teasing me. Very tempted to pick them up, but it seems that I may be too close to what I already own. What do you guys think? I currently own the pair above, Cigar LWB and Cigar Brixtons.

Hey doc, congrats on the fine purchase. Might I ask, where did you purchase your cigar lwb from? Those are next on my list..

1- Clean shoes with damp cloth
2- Brush vigorously with a horsehair brush
3- Buff with smooth cloth
4- Use wax after a minimum of fifteen wearing

are you using wax for step 4, and how often?  or is step 4 only for shell, and not CXL?

I have never consider using wax on CXL.  First time i have seen a really nice shine on CXL

Alden of Carmel. Adam Knott was a good sport about dealing with my many e-mails.

Best of luck!

I think Alden retailers are not allowed to have any publicized sales. Every one of the multitude of Sherman Brothers coupons I receive specifically state that Aldens are excluded, and similar conditions apply for coupons from Shoe Mart, NRO and J.Crew (although coupon control at the latter two is spotty at best). Just recently in this thread we have heard about recent sales at O'Connells, a store in Albany and a store in Ohio. But these sales are limited to standard stock Aldens in black and color 8 only.

Reading between the lines, it seems that Alden frowns on sales but in the end retailers can and will do what they want because they do have a profit margin to work with. If you are a frequent customer or happen to walk into their store, they may be more likely to give you a discount rather than if you are making an anonymous internet purchase. If you are physically in-store with cash in hand it seems logical that they may be more willing to cut a deal and gain a customer rather than lose a sale.

The only place that I've worn saddle shoes in the last thirty years is on the golf course. But those #4's are eye catching to say the least. Looking good MrDV!

I'd love to know the answer to this as well.
I feel like my natural CXL Indy's are getting a bit dark.

I agree -- too close to your others. I like the Cigar Atom but the antique welt is not as good for me as a dark welt when wearing to work. Still hunting a brown wingtip in a non-Barrie last....
