Sorry to hear that happened. How long was that set of laces serving its purpose before it blew?

I tried the Red Wing free laces trick, as mentioned in the "Alden FAQ" (just type that into Google and, I believe Borderline, suggested the model # to type into the Red Wing site. Mine arrived in about 5 days. A bit blacker than the brown laces that came with my LS Ultimate Indys, but the same gauge and flatness.

What about contacting the LeatherSoul guys and having them drop a set into an envelope for you?

I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting for cigar Atoms to arrive satisfied.gif Congrats.

Interesting how styles vary by region.  I've noticed that brown suits seem to be much more prevalant in the Midwest than in the Northeast.  (Olive too)

I have a whiskey LWB on my own wish list, also a cigar cap toe balmoral. Not sure which one I'll go for next, depends in part on availability and any deal, but I'm leaning towards the LWB whiskey as I have a pair of brown J&M cap toes that are really fine, made in USA, look good and are comfortable. Also, another issue for me is that I don't know how much use I'd get from the whiskey LWB, I just want a pair because they look like real cool shoes.

Eventually, I'll probably have both, another cigar and the whiskey.

This is exactly the slippery slope I trip on just about every time. It started off for me with, "I'll dive into the Alden scene, but only if I can get a J.Crew discount." Then it was, "Oh, LWBs are nice. The cool styleforum guys are talking about shell. I obviously need some shell action." Got a color 8 LWB then decided not only that I needed a shell boot, but also more shell in other places. "I'll go ahead and get that Grant lasted cap toe boot; Kathy from Alden of DC is so nice and accommodating after all." "Oh, wait, summer is coming. I obviously need a loafer. Cigar it is." Wait, what about those Indy boots everyone is talking about? Oh, if I pass up on the Leffot presale for black shell naval boots, there will be a big hole in the color spectrum in the closet." You catch my drift...

Olifter, congrats on a diverse shell collection and best of luck in the hunt for whiskey...

Good luck when you stop by the Crew tomorrow. Today, I bought the japanese chambray suit and convinced the SA that I missed the 20% off coupon because my wife didn't want me transacting business during the Sabbath, but that it was only hours later than the deadline, so could I please get the discount anyway? Got the thumbs up and an indication from SA that I could have pulled the trigger on Aldens with the discount.

Hope to see your new cap toes soon... :)

Whiskey LWB

Oh. My. God.

Clearly the answer is kids these days don't need to go to college. That fund can be devoted to shell LWBs.

Yup. Same problem with me. "I'll dish out for a pair of LeatherSoul X Alden boots" and then I found this forum thread and a few thousand $ later...
