I hope everyone's NRO purchases pan out...

But it seems like every 3-month cycle is the same. People get all googly-eyed over "ALDEN DIZCOUNTZ!!!1!" put in orders, and then we quickly get the same anti-NRO posts about poor service, orders falling through, etc. Here's hoping y'all get your pairs -

Haresh, I wear the plaza true to size, and 1/2 size down for the Barrie. I think the plaza 6d should work for you if you are comfortable with 5.5d Barrie. plaza last Aldens are great looking.

dealing with them by phone (or rather trying repeatedly to deal with them by phone and then dealing with them by phone) was enough for me.

Oh yeah, and my card was charged when the order was placed, but I still have no ETA on when I'll get my chukkas.

Generally charges will appear when the initial transaction was made.

However did the actual charge process completely without you recieving your merchandise?

I want the boot to be as versatile as possible... My question is do any of you wear your commando soled boots with sleeker lasts (grant, plaza, etc) with suits? I'd like to be able to wear this boot with a suit occasionally.

the commando sole kills it for me, regardless of how sleek the last is. i personally wouldn't wear commando sole with a suit but would be pleasantly surprised to see someone else with that combo

Correct. What actually happened was, I ordered a pair over the phone because it wasn't available on their website (12.5C). I had good luck on my previous order with NRO - got the discount without any issues. But, this time they didn't have the shoe in stock. They charged my card up front and said they would ship the shoes to me once they became available. I think the ETA was about 8-12 weeks, which seemed too good to be true for Alden and their notoriously long and unpredictable wait times.

I probably should have chalked up my first order to having once in a lifetime good luck with NRO, and stopped while I was ahead. I guess if I eventually get my chukkas, it will still be a good deal. I ordered them back when I think chukkas only cost something like $435 (pretty sure they're around $468 now), and I got 25% off, rather than the current 20%. But if I don't get them soon, I can just cancel the order and get my money back.
