Just a question, to make sure I won't make a mistake...

I recently bought a nice pair of Indy Boots here in Germany. Pricing, of course, was ridiculous :-(

As you might imagine, I immediately fell in love with these boots, so I'm going to buy another pair online. A good friend is going to Philadelphia to attend her son's wedding in april, and she agreed to bring the boots back to Germany I'm going to have shipped to her son's US-adress.

I just want to make sure I'll order the correct size and width. So I took a picture of my boots (see below). Is it correct I bought a 10 E here in Germany?

Please confirm the size from the pic, this would be really appreciated!!

Thank you very, very much,

Andy

Andreas,

Yes. Alden sizing is done as the number (in your case the 10) and then the width. The width is expressed with two letters. The width here (expressed as a C/E) is in fact an E width. So the proper size would be a 10E.

This is a pretty good resource for sizing: http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/fitting.htm

Hope this helps.

Oh yes, thank you very much.

Order is placed :-)

I understand that, as the sole breaks in, some initial heel slip can go away. I've used tongue pads on some Loake chukkas to get rid of some extra room, but I kind of dislike the idea of using them on a pair of shoes that are significantly more expensive, however, and I also wonder if tongue pads can be replaced many times throughout the life of a shoe?

I use them. And heel pads as well, depending on the last. I use both on my PTBs.

Contact them and speak with Yenni(?). You can also see their inventory via Alden of Carmel.
