9015 post method and Leather Defender

 

How often should I reapply the Leather Defender?  Obviously it depends on frequency of wearing, but should I use it every time I implement the method?  Or is that excessive?

The Hampton is a very good looking last. It's seems perfect for a Balmoral such as this. Enjoy.

Thanks Frank.  I agree.  I prefer it to the very pointy, elongated, chiseled, trapezoidal lasts that are popular lately for dress shoes.  That's what I like about the Hampton, rounder-toe.  For me its a little wider in the forefoot than the aberdeen, which could be my best fitting last.

 

 

Could be that they are still quite new, but after the method this afternoon they look better than when I received them.

No, I don't polish after every wear at all - but I'll brush each shoe for 3-5 minutes when taking them off for the day. Yes, I always tree them - boots too.

for some reason, shell doesn't seem to shine that well right out of the box. i had a hell of a time getting my NSTs to shine up right after i got them, but now the toe caps are nice and shiny. i feel i have always gotten a better shine after a few wearings, or even just keeping the shoes out of the box. perhaps there's something about increased exposure to circulating air that changes something in the finish...

Saphir makes some suede dye. Might be worth a shot to even those out. In my experience, the LHS strap won't loosen. Either the Van last fits your instep or you're SOL. They're unwearable for me.

Sounds like trees are the consensus in Indy's too. I have two pairs, on Natty CXL and the other Color 8 Shell. Looks like i'll be ordering two more pairs of trees.

Thanks for the input.  Like I said, the wind was blowing which I think makes them look longer but they are probably still a tad long.  I'll take another pic some time soon.

I just came home to some new Ravello Chukkas. I agree with Bespoken PA that they are darker then other Ravello I have seen, I would almost peg them closer to Whiskey. I was not expecting a dark trim but I think it is a nice contrast.


I am assuming this can buff out but I would love some advice
