An exhibition pairing art works with 70 pairs of well worn Aldens

"Modern Art / Aging Leather Shoes" 2/3~2/17 @ Kamakura Gallery, Kamakura, Japan

not so sure about the concept, but definitely not something you see in the states biggrin.gif

They are #8.  I took the pic in the brightest room in the house but it was already dark.

It's been overcast and snowy all day today.  At one point today while breaking them indoors I could really see the $8 tone.  I'll be sure to post a natural light pic on maiden voyage next week.

They fit perfect BTW!  But immediately, the creases are lighter.  Like the act of creasing somehow is squeezing the dye out of the leather?  Weird.

Too funny...the Shoe Mart 8D is gone because I had them on pre-order...our mention the Shoe Mart version, are there differences in Thea makeup between Shoe Mart and Alden NYC? I had thought they were identical

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for NYC or the ShoeMart to get them in and have some available in a 7.5. It looks like the TSM is the winner. I just received a pair of color #8 chukkas too from Alden of Carmel. Maybe I should just go for the full rainbow...

That's is pretty funny.

I have a pair of 2 eyelet Chukka in navy suede, unlined...and they fit nicely. I hope this holds the same for the Ravello.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of the J. Crew Ravello LWBs were scooped up by members/lurkers on here, haha. I don't think the typical J. Crew shopper will spend $700 on shoes so easily.

The NYC men's stores are a bit of a different animal. When I was at the Ludlow store two guys were attempting to buy suits or tuxes to wear to an even that night with shirts and shoes.

Also remember that those stores have been stocking Aldens for a couple of years

Same story with the local men's store. J. Crew really hit it home with their one stop shop idea. I saw quite a few men leaving the store with several bags, with things ranging from suits to tee's and shorts.
