Chromexcel is made from cow, calf and horse hides. Horween makes many leathers using many tanning methods from all of these hides. Chromexcel does not equal Horween calf, it is a specific type of their leather using a proprietary tanning method and recipe, and they can apply the recipe to any hide they choose.

Right--I didn't think Horween used the CXL process on calf, though. I thought it was all cowhide and horsehide. The Indy boot is cowhide CXL, isn't it? The original confusion arrose because some sites are saying it's calf and some are saying it's CXL. I can't imagine they'd sell a CXL calfskin boot for the same price as a CXL cowhide boot, though. Usually Alden's calf is a little bit pricier than cowhide.

I just stained my sand suede chukkas with an oil based sauce. Any idea what's the best way to get the stain out?

Search this thread for key words "Corn Starch" or "Baby Powder" and look through results for the last few weeks.  It was discussed.

Nevertheless, I had a nice package from LS waiting for me at customs here in Germany (excellent costumer service btw - especially considering the oversea-shipping to Europe). Day one of breaking them in using the Mac Method. Enjoy!

nephew,
wear in good health
