the only people i've heard refer to it at CXL are Epaulet. everyone else says calf. it might be sourced from Horween, but it's not CXL.

i have no idea. i've read tons of horween posts on their blog and on their website that outline all their different leathers, and there are many. that being said, the 401 that Epaulet/Unionmade/TSM has, looks very different than the "black calf indy" that alden of carmel has. so i'm sure there are many factors which we're just unaware of.
