Out of curiosity, do you wear them often with suits?

I saw them - definitely ravello (similar to other ravello I've seen recently). The shoe looks "lighter" due to the antique sole and the eyelets. Very unique shoe... I'm not sure which I prefer (Alden SF version or this version).

That store has the best selection of Alden shoes of all the J crews... They also have a tan suede chukka on crepe (I believe the snuff is the only one online)

If I already have the ravello LWB (Alden DC) which is on the darker end of the ravello spectrum, with the dark brown edge, would this purchase be too redundant?

Probably... Though you could say wear the darker one with more formal gear, and the ligher one more casually. I feel that the light version would be an awesome spring and summer shoe.

AppleMark

One of these is likely going up for sale soon

They both look great, but very similar. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi there - long time lurker first time poster....lots has been said about Alden restoration, but I hadn't seen anyone address this question....when you send your shoes in do you have the option of changing the sole type...ie going from a double oak to a single oiled?

thanks

jk

i believe they used to do this, but will now only put what the original model came on. i haven't sent any in for restoration though so i can't say for sure. a cobbler can, of course, put whatever you want on there. many on this forum like b. nelson.

I feel the full strap is the most 'mature' style of Alden's lineup. However, as a 28 year old, I wouldn't think twice about sporting these. Beautiful.

I don't have LWBs but I will wear my PTBs with less formal suits.  For example, I have a casualish suit with patch pockets that I will wear my PTBs with.
