I had ordered those (if they're the #8 lwb with crepe sole) and they're beautiful in person. The soles on mine came murdered out, which was nice, as it almost looked like a normal leather sole but much more comfortable.

I'm looking forward to getting a new pair in tomorrow though without the stain on the cordovan.

Regarding horses, I have not had any per se but have eaten grilled zebra in Nairobi.

Would zebra shell be rarer than #4?

I'm sure they're wonderful. I doubt Alden makes an awful piece of footwear.

1) Photos of all of the different sole options
2) Photos of the different edge trim options
3) Maybe a list of things to check when you get new Aldens, typical flaws, which ones are normal, which ones are deal breakers

First time posting on the Alden thread. I just received my new cigar indys, I've been staring at them for about an hour now. I wear a size 8d would the 6-8 or 8-10 shoe trees work best does it even matter. I know my Edward green trees are lasted but I don't believe the Aldens are? Considering the drastic differences in lasts I can't see how the same pair of trees could work with say Aberdeen and Barrie, just my .02.

off topic but has anyone ever been able to order a shell remnant or butt piece from anywhere?

 

tossing around fabbing up some small leather goods, would love to work with some shell. curious the cost..
